Marty Manning announces his retirement from Ihearts KESZ-FM

https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=c40527

After an impressive 50-year radio career, radio host Marty Manning is laying down the microphone. He's been the "Man on the Street" for iHeartMedia's AC KESZ-FM (99.9 KEX)/Phoenix for over 30 years and has become an advocate for the local community. Manning hosted and produced the "Valley Views" public affairs program where he has done about 750 interviews with local organizations. His last day on air will be June 21.

Manning got his start in radio in 1969 at KCAC-AM (1010) voicing commercials and working as a part-time on-air host. His career has taken him from Arizona to Texas, California, Ohio and eventually back to Phoenix, Arizona in 1985 when he became the Creative Director for 99.9. In addition, Manning has hosted and participated in countless community events and programs including 99.9 KEZ's Excellence In Education program which he has piloted for 14 years recognizing Arizona's educators.

June 21st will be his final day at Iheart KESZ-FM.

A tip of the fez to Marty Manning. 30 years at KEZ...and at least that number of GM's and PD's!

He'd been there when it was KLZI. Good golly. That's a long run.

Beth McDonald had Marty on her video segment with KSAZ-TV the other day and mentioned that Marty was second only to her in longevity at KESZ.

Asked what his retirement plans were Marty said he was up for an upcoming concert (I forget the artist) then who knows? Seems like the kind of guy you would want as an on-air sidekick.

Marty's a good dude, period. I wish him the best!

Wasn't he teamed with Maggie Brock in afternoon drive many years ago (Maggie & Marty)?
