Mary Sliwa on Curtis Sliwa-'He's an inveterate, world-class liar:'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...founder-sues-1-4m-child-support-payments.html

"The ex-wife of Curtis Sliwa has filed a $1.45 million lawsuit claiming that the Guardian Angels founder cheated on her and swindled her out of nearly a half million dollars.
Mary Sliwa has accused her former husband of giving excessive child support payments to Queens politician Melinda Katz, whom he fathered two children with through in vitro fertilization while he was still married to Ms Sliwa."

She might refer to him as an inveterate invertebrate ;D

Well, it is sort of unusual for a guy to cheat on his wife with a test tube.

No kidding. I learned the hard way not to take what an ex-wife (or ex-husband) says seriously.

I am not sure any of the players here have any credibility whatsoever.

It sounds like a reality show with irrelevant characters who are a few steps below the "Jersey Shore" cast.

Mary? What happened to Lisa?

Any other ex-Sliwas lurking about?

Do guys in red caps still patrol subways, anyway?

Perish the thought (sarcastic chortle). Seriously though, jilted ex-husbands have wreaked a little havoc as well.

Back to the thread... only my intuition speaking here, but I thought I detected tension between Curtis & Lisa back as early as the '80s. You could hear (feel) it listening to their frequent appearances on Alan Colmes afternoon show on NYC's WNBC. They sounded just like Sonny & Cher. Curtis even guest hosted ocassionally.

I thought Sliwas 15 minutes were up years ago. I guess the shelf-life in NYC is longer ::)

Not sure, but I can pass on a personal observation about those "patrols". Temporarily returning to NY in the late '80s & middle '90s, I witnessed plenty of commuters, especially ladies, flocking around those red-capped patrolman/women on the ferries & subways, even in broad daylight. Though mostly unarmmed (some were rumored to carry concealed revolvers), the guard's reputation preceeded them-- people simply felt safe around them. It was a sense of security against which the police could not compete; conventional law enforcement simply didn't have the time nor the resources for doing what the guard could do. And yes, at least early on, city police officials publicly vented hard feelings against those guards. But, like it or not, their presence seemed to work, if only at giving commuters a sense of security.
