Don`t know excatly when it will happen, but it will!!! Both WGUN and Randy And Spiff need each other. If promoted correctly, this could be BIG, really BIG!!! It would be the first time in YEARS that Randy and Spiff are away from CORPORATE fatcat owners. WGUN can be a GREAT local, live Oldies station!!

I thought so too:

I kind of thought R & S and the Kicks crew would be "safe" for a little while (two of three ratings periods) with former Kicks GM Paul O Malley running the cluster. I just keep on wondering what demo do TRG do so well that they are still on? Or do they have some pictures of somebody?

I my best guess for R & S to stay in this market would be if CBS gets tried Adult Alternative 92.9 being a sub 15 (6+ beauty contest). It is one of the two C's with an intown and antenna at the highest height 1115. (99.7 is also at 1115). I still think but dread that WZGC will be all news someday with CBS having high billing all news operations in other cities.

Another weird possibility is if 1010 can get their 25 KW night service that covers a large part of the market 24 /7. I know music on AM is hard but R & S has an older audience some of us do push the AM button once in the while.

...and corporate fatcat contracts. Would R&S make the move just for the love of oldies?

"Easy now.......... perhaps you are new to the Atlanta scene and don`t know about the powerful history of Randy and Spiff and the Ultimate Oldies Concert."

If I were their PD, I'd coach more Randy and less Spiff. Spiff is really funny, but ends up dominating every bit. Randy has more of a real "listener's" life going on, with 3 adopted kids.

Spiff is more of a cartoon character. I'm not slamming him. He's funny. I think the show would benefit more from Randy sharing more of what his family life is like, kids in college, etc. And then, more Spiff, where appropriate, that'd be good.

For some reason, there's a sense that funny equals always "good". I think "real" equals always good; "funny" is like the chocolate sauce on the sundae.

IIRC CC tried that. They even just had Randy by himself (granted it was 640 the career killer) but Radio (in general) has a formula 5 AM to till 9 AM: funny = money

I get that. But the format at 640 wasn't right for him. I think there needs to be some balance, and the show has felt unbalanced to me, for years. I could be wrong, though.

IMHO just on a non targeted demo person's recall (I am too old to be an attractive demo), I kinda feel the show needed more funny. The Regular Guys use to have LOL humor when they were on 96 Rock. (There has been a lot of discussion about pace and PPM but that is another thread.) Gary Mckee's run on 790 and 94.1 was mostly funny. Then there was Ross and Wilson on Z 93 (Another tread). BTW Spiff had a lot of "real life" stuff when his wife died and then he got remarried on Fox 97.
