since we've swerved into Christmas..the walmart here in gallatin had Christmas stuff out on labor day..right next to the grills,charcoal, and potted plants. there should be a law ..no Christmas til after thanksgiving..in the old days we started Christmas music the second week in december..every forth song..drifting to every other by the 23rd..then all day on Christmas day..the only day we could let albums track through with the "savor" time between the cuts. i always volunteered to work all day, as i was single...that way i would be off new years day..which coincidently followed new years eve.. ;D all you had to do was casually mention your weres tuck at the station all day..with no

I remember a former coworker pulling up to the station where I used to work, driving a Chevy pickup truck with one of those "Rock 106 Crank it up" plates on the front of it. I asked where "Rock 106" was, thinking it was an out of town station. He then gave me the same history that several on here have told us. He told me about hearing "Do You Hear What I Hear?" on Christmas Day, and wondering if there was not a hidden message associated with it, given that it was on a station that was about to change formats. (His truck was about a late '70s/early '80s model, so that plate had probably been on the front of it since Rock 106 was on the air. Turns out I had correctly assumed that "Rock 106" was an older station, given that it was not a "digital" frequency.)

Scott, if you can persuade Cumulus to make 97.1 the new "Rock 106," (as long as they don't wear out that "new" adjective again--hey, wait, they already are!), you can "kill two birds with one stone."

Good idea, why not SwissVol and I go out on the street and sell dart throwing posters of Lew Dickey, and I'll send them to Atlanta at the corporate office. Maybe he'll give us a chance, we'll all grow are hair out long again and start up ROCK 97, WKQB, NASHVILLE, CRANK IT UP! Wishfull thinking on my part. Oh yes, I remember working Xmas Eve and Xmas Day at stations. The last was 92Q. All stations, as far as I know, are automated (voice tracked or satellite) on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day, except for the EAS LP-1's and LP-2's for emergency reasons. Xmas Day, I'm in my sweats all day, and I'll monitor the station from time to time throughout the day to make sure everything is cool, otherwise, it's R-N-R for me.

who return to rock. 5.0...nah, that's to many ratings points for Crumulus to count.

If they had any you know whats, which they don't...they could blast into the middle
of the Phil Valentime TV spot with crazy teasers for the 97 Rock. But, no.

I wonder if anyone knows whether Steve Dickert, given full authority and budget,
would have really rocked 97?

I myself, am just waiting for it to go on and go Christmas. That's one place it should
be Christmas 24/365 instead of the current death march of morbid bland crock...the temple of doom.

But, I am not going to be the one to be accused of trashing 97.1. I am just offering
gentle constructive thinking and observation. :-X

ScotWRMO, I am all for siting down with some degree of programming input (just my big opinions, but not throwing stuff at people, wait, well, maybe a few people, but we wil not go there) but anyway. It would be interesting what the conversation might be: Hot Tuna? Add em or toss em? I say add em, they are bluesy and were there in the old days of FM rock. ScotWRMO: Naaah, too old schoolish. Guns and Roses> SwissVol: Naaah, too metalish. ScottWRMO: They wil bring in those eighties demo types we need to get this station rolling. Corporate bigshots: Naaah on both of those. We decide what same ole boring songs that get played over and over. Afterall, ole Bily Joe over there in Antiock just got back from clubbing and would love to hear Sweet Home Alabama.

You shouldn't of let MSJ and Buntin bury your head in Gallatin. Hell, You could of lead the ROCK 106 "ROCK ARMY", and who knows, today, you could be as big as Gene Simmons and driving kick butt bikes!

Oh Tibbs, the reason why none of these station "Really Rock" in Nashville is because it make too much sense. Tulsa has a kick ass rocker, and anytime you tune in, especially when your driving, the station always got a kick butt rock tune on. As I have said many time, Nahsville is way behind the rest of the country in busting in "Real Rock Radio".

Even Lighting 100 is NOT a real AAA station. Take a good look at other stations that are formatted AAA around the country. Look at thier website, and if they stream, listen to them. Nashville radio just really sucks.

Consultants come in here and think we nothing but a bunch of stupid country hillbillys, and that's no so. We need a real rock station in this market and 105.9 is not cutting the mustard. They are weak, and I'm like the rest of you, I'm sick of hearing "Sweet Home Alabama"!

Imagine one moring you all wake up to tune into the radio scene. We do the scan thing. I scan hoping one day some product will be on some FM frequency that will interest me even if it is just moderate interest.

I keep hoping that will happen.

I find myself listening more and more to WSM radio because it does not sound like big coprporate radio, even though it is. I never was a big country fan, but as one who is sick of corporate rock radio, I actually listen to WSM radio. I tuned into Eddie Stubbs tribute to Porter Wagoner the other evening and enjoyed that show! Sports talk radio is big with, me but local music radio has lost it's appeal for me. I tune into XM radio's "Deep Tracks" or XM Cafe. ScotWMRO mentioned Lightning 100, Lightning 100 should listen to XM cafe, bring a pen and pad and take notes!! JMO. I know there might be a FM 100 person lurking around here.

If your ead the LA mesage forums, the comon theme of "Music radio sucks" is everywhere I think. Not just in Nashville!!
