ME-TV BEATS CW, MY NETWORK TV & ANTENNA TV IN MILWAUKEE

A new news release from Me-TV today on their website.

Me-TV Milwaukee beat the CW, My Network and the Antenna TV affiliates, Monday – Friday, 9A-3P

Weigel Broadcasting Co.’s WBME ratings success & audience growth

M-F/3P-6P .04 .9 +125%

I've said this before, maybe the CW, MY NETWORK TV & ION, should consider going retro
(Gomer Pyle, That Girl, Love Boat, etc.) instead of all trying to be CBS Jr. But that option
may not be available anymore, as others (Antenna, Me-TV) have seen the "opening" and
taken it.

Do note that ME-TV is on a .1 signal in Milwaukee -- that is, it's guaranteed carriage on cable/satellite, unlike .2/.3/.4 channels which may or may not be available to non-OTA viewers.

That said, CW and My are also on .1 signals.

Antenna is on a .2, don't remember whether it's on cable.

...so, if I read this as it's written, WBME beat out WVTV, WCGV and WITI...

That's correct. Antenna TV is on 6.2 WITI and carried on Time Warner & Charter cable according
to Antenna's website...........so probably a slight disadvantage for 6.2.

But, they didn't beat the main WITI.......just the sub channel. Don't know how they figured
that out, some say sub channels are not measured by Nielsen.

It's on Charter and Time Warner, but waaaaay in the back of the lineup at 967 on Charter and 986 on TWC, while WBME on both is on channel 19, between WVTV (CW) and WCGV (My), and of course the subchannels are only available with a box or QAM.

I can see this statement as the truth though. Remember, Antenna TV is basically the worst of the Sony Pictures library until noon on weekdays (i.e. you really have to love a particular movie to sit through it and the 298 catheter ads airing during it), while the Sinclair stations are nothing but court and trash talk until 5pm, and before 10am nothing but informercials and dreadful E/I programming.

The measurements are also taken since Weigel took full control of WBME in July 2008, and there have also been press releases saying the same about their This TV subchannel over WDJT also beating WVTV and WCGV during the weekends.

So the general feel I get on this topic and others on this board is that people like Me-TV
but Antenna TV could do a better job than they are doing.

Does Antenna need better shows? A lot of complaints on here about the ads on Antenna
TV..........are there too many? Me-TV seems to have normal ad times or below normal.
Does Antenna TV have a lot of those 6 and 7 minute adds that have turned me off of
TV Land? TV Land has gotten so bad I watch another channel for 6 minutes while they
roll out about 15 commercials in a row.

I don't think it's the actual sitcoms that are the issue, along with the presentation (they've done a great job with that). The problem is that they haven't done such a good job with the advertisers yet, and that after midnight the network is pretty much irrelevant because of the films they're airing. The advertising issue will eventually be fixed, and on WITI at least they block out many of those ads with local and Fox promos.

But the movies, it seems like one night they're getting classic films rarely seen anymore and not even on DVD, the next they're stuck with "Beverly Hills Ninja", "Ishtar" and "Blind Date" or movies that flopped on opening night, which all repeat so many times a month. But that can be fixed too, as This TV proved as they learned what works and doesn't as far as the MGM/UA library is concerned. It's more about growing pains more than anything involving technical and on-air things.

The other thing is that there's not enough 60's sitcom product like "Bewitched" or "Beverly Hillbillies", so hopefully that may get rectified too. The Screen Gems/Columbia library is deep and hopefully they'll be able to utilize it more once the debut lineup is tuned up further and maybe they ditch two hours of the movie block to add more shows.

If Antenna added more 60's sitcoms I would be even less likely to watch. They need more stuff from the 80's. The only two shows I ever watch on Antenna are Three's Company and Too Close for Comfort. They really need to get rid of all those Benny Hill and Three Stooges episodes - seems like they are on constantly.

I never cared for Benny Hill & refused to watch it. I don't know why Antenna TV decided to pick it up. Three Stooges are alright. WCIU carried them for a while in Chicago. Then it got moved to MeTV (WWME-LD 23.1/WCIU 26.3). When Weigel decided to take MeTV nationwide, they had to move Three Stooges & all other Sony shows to MeToo (WMEU-CA 48/WCIU 26.4), as Weigel only owns the Chicago rights to the Sony shows, & MeToo is the local MeTV. I would like to see more 80's & 90's shows added. I wouldn't mind seeing Bewitched & I Dream Of Jeannie on Antenna TV. Both of those shows are in the Sony library.

When I was watching on IVI, I think I watched more Me Too than Me-TV, but they both were
good. If RTV can have an RTV II (which hasn't happened yet) maybe Me should do a Me Too
nationwide also.

I don't think you want to watch retro all the time, but it's great to see these classic series
find a home on the retro channels. Even though you've seen them many times, they are
still often better than the reality shows and other junk seen on all the other channels.
