Mega Moves to 99.3 FM, Something “New and Exciting Is Coming to 104.3 FM at 3:00 P.M. Today”

Listening to Mega 104.3 and they are playing a continuous loop of a ticking clock and an intermittent message saying that Mega has moved to 99.3 FM and “something new and exciting is coming to 104.3 FM at 3:00 P.M. today.” Any ideas what the new format might be for 104.3 FM? Isn’t moving to 99.3 a downgrade for Mega? The former KQFN translator on 99.3 never did well in the East Valley east of SR 87 Country Club Drive / Arizona Avenue.

If they would consult with Magic 92.5 in San Diego, then the Valley would finally have a top rated, fun to listen to, well programmed "Old School R&B". But Mega instead gets downgraded.
The move significantly increases the population count for the Mega brand. The translator is in the city.

Unlike San Diego which is on a full market signal, we're talking about a station moving from a deep rimshot to a translator. Mega is not going to be a dominant signal in Phoenix.

Yep, an easy listening station, currently playing Berlin “Take My Breath Away.” Didn’t KOAI try this before as The Oasis at 95.1 and 94.9? Didn’t seem to work well then, will it work now?

Kicking off with 10,000 songs in a row. I'm not so great at math, wonder how many days/weeks that usually lasts?

The Oasis as Soft AC, I believe was in the 2-3 share range. So, there is an audience for it.

Does Mega stream? I do not see a listen live link on its website - mega993az.com

"95.1 The Oasis" as Soft AC (August 2014 to sometime in 2017) was mainly low-to-mid 1 share. It pivoted toward Classic Hits and was a stable high-1-to-low-2-share station.

I was surprised to learn Soft AC was not already available on the Phoenix FM radio dial given the demographics of the region + high number of FM signals.

This seems like a logical format choice.
Don't care for the format personally, but I think a Classic Country along the lines of a "Hank FM" would have been more logical, given the lack of strong format competition (a few weaker rural rimshot signals with poor sound quality).
