Megan Kelly leaves FOX News for NBC News

Where will Megyn Kelly land?

I am hearing she is talking to ABC. Could this be a co-anchor situation with David Muir? Or is it prime-time hosting? I think she will end up with one of the major networks, but in what capacity? Opinions?

Maybe Megyn could pull a Pat O'Brien and make the leap to entertainment news, with the possibility of taking Nancy O'Dell's spot on "Entertainment Tonight"! That would mean a move to Los Angeles, but it's worth it.

(O'Brien in 1997 left CBS Sports after 16 years for some struggling show called "Access Hollywood", by the way)

That would be a significant backward move for her career wise.

I doubt she's ready for a major network anchor slot. I'm not sure Fox will retain her at her reported salary demands. I suspect she'll end up at NBC, possibly to replace Savannah Guthrie. If she does, Lauer is on the way out.

I think Megyn Kelly stays at Fox News or go's to CNN or ABC. But if she wants $20Million as that is what is been reported by the media she stays at Fox News just my opinion just have to wait and see.

If they want to make back some of the $20 mil, I'd suggest a show on their broadcast network. That would get her out of the FNC building, and keep her away from the competition.

Megyn Kelly will join NBC News, it was announced today by Andrew Lack, Chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group.

Kelly will anchor a new one hour daytime program that she will develop with the news division. The show will air Monday through Friday at a time TBA.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Kelly also will anchor a new Sunday evening news magazine show for NBC News, and will contribute to NBC’s breaking news coverage as well as the network’s political and special events coverage.

In today’s announcement, Lack called Kelly “an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career” and has “demonstrated tremendous skill and poise,” adding, “we’re lucky to have her.”

That new program could as well be the fifth hour of the Today Show and possibly the end of Days of our Lives.

At least we won't be seeing LIVE! with Kelly and Kelly.

That's funny!

We knew she was leaving, we knew the atmosphere at Fox had become toxic, especially with the male hosts at Fox, the ones still loyal to Ailes. But she really isn't the kind of personality that drives this kind of mid-day show, like Hoda.

The other question is how does this affect NBC's perceived image? They seem to be accumulating a lot of talent, both in news and sports. But will what she does translate once she leaves Fox?

Apparently the contract allows Kelly to do breaking news segments too for NBC with a Daytime Talk show seat included in this contract.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Megyn Kelly, the Fox News star who's had a contentious relationship with President-elect Donald Trump, said Tuesday that she's leaving the network for NBC News, where she will host a daytime talk show, a weekend newsmagazine and contribute to breaking news coverage.

NBC News made the announcement Tuesday, ending months of speculation over whether she would re-up with Fox, where she has flourished while suffering bruised feelings in recent months, or start a new chapter in her career. Her contract with Fox expires this summer. It was initially unclear when she would leave the Fox airwaves and appear on NBC.

But Wait Both Murdochs and Jack Abernethy negotiated to keep Megyn Kelly but that fell apart due to political infighting between the Ailes wing of Fox News and Abernethy who tried to make Fox News adapt to younger demos.

Wait How is Fox News going to attract younger demos now since Kelly left FOx News.

How much are you willing to bet that Tomi Lahren would move to Fox News from The Blaze to take over Megyn Kelly's old Fox News Seat? Will Fox News's median age be younger if this person moves there or no effect in 2017.

http://www.politicususa.com/2015/12...ing-age-younger-viewers-refuse-watch-fox.html

There were articles in the past arguing that Fox News's Median age was 67-68 during the time Roger Ailes and Megyn Kelly were at Fox News.

She may still be under contract at Fox until July, but I doubt we'll see her there again. If we do, it'll be interesting.

I agree. NBC would be committing suicide if they go with five hours of Today. As for Days of our Lives, the serial still has a following, but unless Sony has a backup plan, their days in Salem will fade into television history.

While Megyn (correct spelling of her first name), is talented, she perhaps owes her fame to our next President. She got more screen time and importance in her Presidential debate question. Again, she is a good journalist, but a certain event took her over the top, intentional or not.

Does he attract younger viewers? I assumed Fox News primetime was skewing older.

Sorry...that was my version of sarcasm.

Bingo. Trump did for Kelly what Nixon did for Rather.
