Melissa Carter, Greg Black and Kristen Charles- New Afternoon Team at AN106.7

Just put it on her Facebook page that she will begin her permanent shift tomorrow. She will join Greg Black, Kristen Charles, Ty Hunter and Crystal Edmonson as an afternoon co-anchor. Cheryl Castro (whose voice is way too high) will begin other duties at the station in the higher ups. Melissa comes from The Huffington Post where she was a columnist, though most Atlantans will remember her as part of The Bert Show and as an advocate for gay rights.

Where did you see this? I haven't. I am glad though- I think there should be two anchors at all times.

I listened to Melissa today and it seemed like she was born for this. It seemed very natural for her. AN106.7 is really moving forward.

I know this may sound a little stupid at first, but could WYAY hire any of the former personalities from WEMP or WIQI?

Also, can the anchors please start identifying their writers and editors. That's just the decent thing to do, I think.

That would be an expensive move to work in a smaller market.

I wonder how many writers or reporters they have? They might not have full time writers. I guess there is someone who is responsible for "feeding" the stories. I have heard Chuck Roberts file a couple of stories but I think they are still using a lot of wire service and Fox 5 stuff. It takes time to build a local news gathering operation. I think they have come a long way in a short time.

They have an "editor" (their title) on duty 24/7. That is the person that is doing the work of gathering the news and feeding it to the anchor. Basically, there are always a minimum of three people there 24/7. An anchor, traffic reporter, and editor. I agree that they should list the editors name at the beginning of each 30 minute segment. When the anchor is alone, it gives the impression that the anchor is not just a reader. There is a news gathering team on duty with the anchor. It is a small thing, but all of those small things add up to an image of the the station.

NO! WEMP style News and WIQI style news should not be on WYAY-FM.

Correct or style. What were they thinking! But there were a few news readers that have committed career suicide by leaving a viable operation like WBBM or WINS. Like I said, I doubt they can afford to move this far.
