Memo to Bonneville's lawyers: it's ok to say "Super Bowl"

Which makes sense considering KTAR 92.3 is an official Super Bowl media partner & their sister sports radio station Arizona Sports 98.7 also a partner & the home of the Arizona Cardinals. Interestingly, KSAZ (FOX 10), despite broadcasting the game aren't an official TV broadcast partner, that distinction actually goes to KTVK (3TV)/KPHO (CBS5) & KPNX (NBC 12News) as well as Univision Arizona.
Fox 10 is airing the majority of Cards game under FOX's NFC contract so I expect 3TV as an independent no network station carrying preseason, Monday and Thursday games (the latter both under anti-siphoning rules to ensure wider availability beyond ESPN and Amazon).

I saw a print ad thanking Super Bowl sponsors in my local community weekly, and KSAZ was on that list. So the main exceptions were just KNXV and KTAZ.

Yeah, I noticed that looking at the Super Bowl fan guide I got when I went to Downtown Phoenix on Monday night for the SB Opening Night. Guess it was a late ad considering it wasn't on the SB host committee website.

There's no reason whatsoever for the imaging to say "# Days Until The Big Game." What big game? They're a news station. It's a factual statement, and not a violation of NFL copyright, to say "# Days Until The SuperBowl" since that is in fact the actual name of 'the big game' and it would in fact be that many days until the SuperBowl. I'm at a loss to understand how that constitutes advertising.
As has already been explained: SuperBowl(tm) is a copyrighted brand name worth a lot of money. This year Fox owns the broadcast rights to use the name as part of their expensive-to-produce broadcast. All the other brand's who paid to be exclusive snack food partners, pickup truck partners, whatever, paid a lot of money to include the game branding with their products. And, when you consider what advertisers pay to be seen in the game? There's too much money tied up in the brand name to just allow anyone to use it during their non-SuperBowl(tm)-broadcasts.
For example: There are literally dozens of NFL-paid lawyers ready to sue anyone turned-in for charging attendees to anything called a SuperBowl(tm) party. I've even seen some churches get nailed for taking donations to view a "SuperBowl(tm)" party at their church.

The other day, I heard newscaster Mark Richards of WNIR in Akron, OH talk about the Superb Owl. Will the NFL have a hissy fit over moving a letter and claim it's a copyright infringement?
🤔🤔

The exception (and there's less than a handful...) - an out-of-market station (no, not a Fox station) had a sports reporter on-scene in Glendale/Phoenix for the last four days with coverage of the proceedings.

Since the station *did* get a proper press-pass for the event, the station gets to advertise that "reporter So-and-So will be bringing us reports from the SuperBowl(tm) Experience" and the myriad of other activities in the days leading up to the Big Game. Yesterday, an example of one of the third-string players from the AFC team that was a local kid who was quite the stud while in high school just a few short years ago. The guy got a scholarship to that small religious school in Provo, UT and was successful there as well.

Again, very limited exceptions to the rule - for good reason.

Nurse Jeff and I have two questions:

1) Can we now hold a day after Super Bowl party at the Buckeye Media Hut?

2) Is it raining where you are?

1) No...it should be at any airport in the Valley, as everyone leaves the state. "Bye, glad you had a good time, now go home!" :ROFLMAO:

2) Yes, yes it is.
