Memo to Charlie & Co. (including subs): Have the almanac at the same time every day or don't have it at all!

Some people, like me, tune in to WEEU coming out of the 8:00am news to hear Charlie Adams and his sidekick run down historical events and celebrity birthdays.

We don't get them, though, if Charlie has a guest (like the circus historian he had on this morning). IIRC if Charlie has a guest, he does the almanac coming out of the 7:30 news, when I'm usually not listening (and if someone is subbing, like Paul Roberts yesterday, the almanac gets ditched entirely; whether it's due to Charlie's contract or not, I don't know).

Anyway, were I to buy WEEU tomorrow, one of the first edicts I'd issue... well, you get the idea. Barring crisis news coverage (when was the last time 'EEU did *that* on its own?), listeners deserve to expect to hear their favorite features at the same time every day.

i always used to laugh when i worked at wraw in 1980. the old people's dial was busted and could not change the channel from 830 back then. hoo hoo the old peoples station weeu. ps. what does weeu stand for???

It stands for "we have jobs in REAL radio and you don't", wannabe. And don't try to pretend that if you were offered a job here, you wouldn't jump on it, 'cause you damn right you would............

I think on another thread someone said the calls were randomly issued way way back in the day, as was FCC practice back then.

"Charlie's CONTRACT???" What, nobody's permitted to read historical events except Charlie??? LOL, come on people. Get a clue. Good to see Berks Countians are STILL as lost as ever. Oh, how I miss it.

Ya know, it's Charlie's show. Let him do the almanac whenever he feels like it! People SO over-analyze this crap.

I enjoy the shtick as well. Mitch Gearhardt (sp?) is quite clever in his wordplay.

All the sniping below -- "real radio" vs. "big market" -- isn't relevant if Messrs. Adams, Gearhardt, Roberts, et al. are having fun with what they do.

I have no patience for much of the "wiseass" morning shtick that seems to be standard in local rock radio.

But I am not the target demographic for most rock radio. I'm too old.

Well, I'm 44 so I don't know what demo I fit.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy C & Co. Where else but on WEEU can you hear both Counting Crows in AM mono (spun by Jo Painter yesterday) and a tune from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which Charlie spun this morning? I just want to see (and hear) consistency in their features. I mean, I enjoy the 8:05 almanac. Usually at 7:35 I'm at a convenience store on my way to work.
