Memphis Grizzlies have a radio home in LR

KKSP (Sports 93.3 The Source) adds on to its sports line-up with radio broadcasts of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. It started last night with the Grizzlies and the Miami Heat. According to the press release found on the emphis Grizzlies' website, KKSP will air at least 20 of the remaining games left on the schedule for this season. I have my fingers crossed that the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games are next to be added to the Source's roster.

Would be nice for KKSP 93.3 to have the Cards, but I think KEWI 690 already has the broadcast rights if I'm not mistaken. Of course only those within sight of that coffeepot at night can hear them but.....

There's always KMOX 1120 at night from STL (they got the flagship BC rights back a few years ago--competitor KTRS 550 had the games for a few seasons) which booms into Central and Southern Arkansas.

This may be somewhat off the subject, but I would really like to know. Years ago, when I operated KCON-AM in Conway, Cardinals baseball was a darn good revenue producer. I wonder if that is still the case today.

I know we struggled with the Cardinals during the years that we had the strike-shorten seasons and the labor issues. Heck, during the McGuire-Sosa home run derby, revenue, I was told, was flat.

Just curious how well the Cardinals and baseball in general on the radio sells today.

Thanks.

And I thought my young son-in-law was the only person in Central Arkansas that cared about the Grizzlies....Go figure.... ::)

My daughter's boyfriend does, too, to my surprise. We went to a game last year, but had terrible seats; you gotta spend $150 per ducat to get decent seats.

Good for the Grizzlies to make a push into Arkansas. You wouldn't know the team even existed by reading the Little Rock newspaper. Old editors die harder than forgotten college rivalries.
