Meredith Stations Slot ‘People’ Syndie For 2020

https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/231547/meredith-stations-picks-people-syndie/

The People Show is going to be Meredith version of ET and Access

People magazine will launch a daily syndicated show in fall of 2020 that will air on all 17 Meredith local television stations across the U.S.

The new People half-hour weeknight program will highlight the most popular features from People, including entertainment news, exclusive interviews, feature stories, beauty, crime and much more. The show will be produced by Four M Studios, Meredith’s in-house television production company.

“This will be another first for People,” said Bruce Gersh, president of People, Entertainment Weekly and Four M Studios. “People is a cultural force, and this is a natural extension of one of the most trusted brands in media. The Meredith Local Media Group has been an incredible partner and we are thrilled to be able to bring premium programming to local audiences and People consumers around the country.”

Meredith’s Local Media Group includes 17 television stations reaching 11% of U.S. households. Meredith’s portfolio is concentrated in large, fast-growing markets, with seven stations in the nation’s top 25 and 13 in top 50 markets including Atlanta; Phoenix; St. Louis; Portland, Ore.; and Nashville. The group currently airs a 30-minute weekend show from People called People Now Weekend.

I'm pretty sure that Nexstar will be airing People show in the fall of 2020 as they own most of the entertainment mag shows other than ET which has been on WZZM forever.

The most amazing part of this story to me is that it's taken them this long to do this. Especially since at one time People was owned by TimeWarner, and they had sought to create TV shows of many of their magazine properties. Of course now People is owned by Meredith, which is why they're carrying this syndicated show.
