Mets/Phillies game on 4/20 to be heard on 3 Philly radio stations?

It's a big game, yes, but it still seems silly for CBS to split the audience among its two AM stations. It's not like 610 is filling in a signal hole of WPHT's or anything.

Its called cost cutting at WIP. Pure and simple. The same reason as airing the Eagles there.

That doesn't really make sense. The point of paying for sports rights is to drive listenership to the station. Airing the same event on two stations dilutes that effect.

(Though, I think both the Phillies and Eagles PBP should air on WIP and NOT the other CBS radio stations they're on, for the same reason).

What might be interesting is airing the WFAN broadcast on 610. :) Though, it's not really necessary as most people in the Philly area can get WFAN for real. Taking that into account, the broadcast is really available on four stations. :) Five if 1040 in Flemington is airing the ESPN feed too.

When the Mets play the Yanks on Sunday Nights, there are three different broadcasts of the same game on the radio in New York: WFAN (Mets), WCBS (Yankees), and WEPN (ESPN Radio).

No-one's counting the Spanish broadcast of the game on 1480 WUBA in Philadelphia.

The game is NOT on WIP.

CONFIRMED! The Sixers game ran late. Instead of joining in progress, WIP went back to talk. Good move, since the Sixers were not given a chance by analyst (not to mention disrespected by the Detroit press) and pulled off the upset in Game One.

Mets-Phillies aired only on AM 1210

WIP-610 is the Sixers flagship and was obligated by contract to air the playoff game.

ESPN 950 and AM 1040 could not air Mets-Phils for legal reasons. If I am not mistaken, ESPN Radio broadcasts of Sunday Night Baseball cannot be aired in the clubs' respective territories. That is to protect the local teams' broadcasts.

950 AM did air the ESPN radio broadcast of the Phillies game last night.
