MGM PLANS KIN TV (2ND AFRICAN AMERICAN SUB-CHANNEL TO COMPETE WITH BOUNCE)

The article also doesn't mention Weigel. So perhaps Weigel's hands are full and they are doing
this on their own. As much as MGM does work with Weigel, you'd think they would be in on this
also.

If the network launches, I wouldn't be surprised if Weigel Broadcasting signs an affiliate agreement for their Chicago & Milwaukee stations. I was surprised that they signed an affiliate agreement for Bounce when they're busy themselves running This TV & MeTV. In Chicago, I would have thought that WJYS would have affiliated with them, because it's a black owned station, & could have benefitted from the affiliation, even though they're known for brokering 62.1 & 62.4 to religious programming & infomercials. That station has the stronger signal than the station Weigel placed Bounce on, which is WWME-LD 23.2, because Weigel refused to move The U Too from 26.2 to place Bounce there. Since they're affiliated with Bounce, I now can see them affiliating with Kin TV, & will likely place Kin TV on WWME-LD 23.3 Chicago & WBME Racine/Milwaukee (not sure about which subchannel to 49 it'll be).

I wonder if the Gump (Montgomery Market) will pick up this new network, once it signs on.

We already have Bounce TV on 12.2.

It wouldn't surprise me if this new network were to have home here.

This is probably bad news for Bounce as MGM plans to start a new "black" channel with a
much wider range of programs than movies, gospel & Soul Train.

Actually it might be good for Bounce as it would light a fire under their rears to diversify/improve the programming. ::)

Well.....Unless Gannett snaps up Kin TV for KTVD once Universal Sports goes cable only (KTVD carries it even though its distributed by Comcast/NBC & KTVD is the child of NBC affiliate KUSA 9), I doubt we'll ever get it

In fact, MeTV has a better chance of landing on KTVD than any other diginet not already here because its the only major diginet which we DO NOT currently get (Note that I don't count RTV because it's dying & Indie KCDO 3 practically airs many of the same programs as RTV either at or approximately at the same times as RTV but without the RTV affiliation anyhow ;D )

JMO.....

Cheers & 73 ;D
