Michael Savage takes over Huckabee's Sunday 8 pm slot on Newsmax.

While I find Savage to be highly entertaining, he is hate personified. Will the format be like his short-lived MSNBC show, with callers?

Late 90's-early 2000's Michael Savage was must listen back in the day. Even if you disagreed with him, his show was highly entertaining. He would also talk about nature, herbs, and nutrition as a way of healing the body.

Yes, his show was great then. Like Glenn Beck's was better 2005-06.
Recall hearing Savage on long cross-country drives at night.

However, viewing his website now, he's totally Trump. No independent reasoning or thinking welcomed.

Same with Ken Hambin, aka The Black Avenger. Once a great host, but now has drank the Trump kool-aid.

Savage and Beck used to be amusing, because they got the entertainment factor. So did Limbaugh initially. The format got too serious, too angry and too unhinged and painted itself into a corner. I don't know what exactly broke them (and it's probably a political topic not suited for this board, but one can guess what happened around 2008 and draw their own conclusions.)

But I loved talk radio in the 90s. Wider range of viewpoints, calls, and more entertainment. Can't even find any hosts still doing that style in the US these days, apart from maybe KMBZ (which is mostly non political) and WWL in New Orleans. Both Audacy stations, which is part of why I'm concerned the new CEO will get too "efficient" and mess with their success. Sure can find a lot of third rate Rush wannabes though.

With Steve Bannon, the disgraced and convicted felon, and a close Trump confidant, on NewsMax, the outlet long ago lost any credibility other than being a schill for Trump.

Please stop with the TDS stuff! Rush Limbaugh went off the rails long before Trump ran for POTUS.

I watched Savage last night and he hardly mentioned Trump at all. Most of the show was an interview with his son, Russ, about their relationship and Russ' business success.

I agree about Levin and Hannity but, again, broad brush for some others.

Beck was once a liberal but he made a sharp turn when he saw where the money was!
