Mike and Mike end their 15 year run. Last show Friday on KISS 94.5

Last night, Mike Elliott and Mike Dow announced on their Facebook page that their last show on KISS in Bangor will be this Friday 10/19. This will end their 15 year run. Previously they were on WBZN Bangor, Z107.3.

Things we do know, starting Monday, Mike Dow will be on 104.3 FM WABK Gardiner/Augusta. Starting Dec. 31, he will also be on Big 104.7 FM WBAK in Bangor and on 107.7 FM in Bar Harbor. Goodbye W-BACH!!! I also guess this means goodbye to no DJ's on Big 104.7. Mike Elliott will be on in the mornings on 97.1 FM WBFB, The Bear, which also simulcasts on WMCM 103.3 Rockland and WLKE 99.1 Bar Harbor. He'll be cohosting the morning show with current morning cohost Katrina Walls.

OK, this leads me to a couple of questions. What is KISS going to do in the mornings? Will anyone care? ;) Also, is Paul Dupuis going elsewhere on the Bear?

While not a constant listener to WBACH, I can listen to it on the 106.9 frequency. There are going to be a lot of disappointed listeners.

Also, it's too bad that the Big format will come to 107.7. The format is kinda, but not quite similar to 93.7 The Wave. Personally I'd like to see the second incarnation of 107.7 WMDI with Boss Hogg, Joel and Laura Neal back on the frequency. But that though along with a nickel will get me nothing.

Opinions?

I wonder too what Kiss will do in the AM (does this pave the way for a full fledged Top 40/B97 reincarnation?) Blueberry doesn't seem to be big on national syndication on their music stations.

93.7 is a good station, but comes from the AC end of things, WABK/Big 104 will play Oldies that 93.7 won't touch, 93.7 and Mix 107.9 out of Augusta/Waterville are very similar in their approach to the AC format but 93.7 won't touch currents.

This pretty much confirms what I said months ago that Big 104 and WABK will become one, 107.7 had already requested calls similar to WABK/Big 104. Add another trimulcast to the Blueberry folder

I thought Paul Dupuis was on Q106.5?

You are correct, my mistake. I was responding to the question asked and didn't think it through. On the other hand, he isn't there anymore, either ;D

Nice to know I'm not the only person who misses WMDI. That was some really enjoyable radio. Would love to see a station like that come back to Bar Harbor.

Nope, I was right the first time, Paul left The Q a while back for The Bear, and is now working for Time Warner. Just idle speculation, but is it possible that Blueberry decided to break up the Mike & Mike team rather than hire a new host for the Bear Morning show? Just a thought? It would certainly save a salary and benefits.

It depends on what they do with Kiss in the mornings, doubt it'll be national.

Isn't WTOS on 101.1 downeast?

It is and also transmits from the WLKE Lucky-99 tower in Gouldsboro...they are licensed to Gouldsboro, in fact, having been previously licensed to Machias as WBEO which never got built.

I also wonder what will become of Kiss and not just mornings. It's great that Mike Dow will be heard on Big 104. The station will come together much better with some on-air talent and more live remotes. Blueberry seems invested with WBAK, so I guess time will tell what they have in store for WKSQ.

Mike Dow is a great guy. I wonder if Blueberry broke Mike & Mike up; I guess it doesn't matter, really.
