Mister Genesis: Fired Staffers Just Wandered Around the Halls

In his company blog, Genesis CEO Bruce Maduri declares that "we (Genesis) were bloated with people running around the hallways that were not very productive". I'm sure that is comfort to those like Dan York who were cut loose. ::) :p He proudly proclaims that radio's future is "fewer staffers and survival mode."

Bruce's blog sounds like one of those backward-looking head in the sand CEO's that people like Mark Ramsey and others point to as having no strategy for the future. Maduri touts the survival of "local radio" -- which doesn't exist on his main Tampa station for 21 hours a day.

As long as radio is dominated by management that sees employees as liabilities instead of assets it will continue to drift.

Funny....the big corporate radio haters dream of the day that all of radio is owned by small locally-owned companies, just like this 6-station group in Tampa. This is what you have to look forward to when CC, Cumulus, and Citadel go away. Be careful what you wish for.
