Mondo Mike back in Dallas, Lex and Terry, RMS rumors....KLLI coming back maybe?

Mondo Mike said on his Facebook page that he is leaving Alaska and headed back to Dallas, which I know would only be if he had a gig here in Dallas to come back to.

Lex and Terry are now on the Fan....2 guys who are NOT sports guys...

Rumors (and yes they are just rumors) are floating around that RMS is coming back.....and we all know what his show is all about....

Is it POSSIBLE that management at CBS have realized that The Fan is a failure, and are getting ready to flip the station back to a hot talk format?

Understand, I am not saying that this is going to happen, but...it seems to me that the chances of this are not out of the relm of possibility, given the things I have mentioned. Of course there are a few things I have been told (in confidence) that I have not mentioned that in itself don't mean a flip, but if you factor in the other known facts....KLLI could be brought back once again. Any thoughts on this?

Also, keep in mind that the property manager of the building that houses CBS Radio will not allow the Russ Martin Show to broadcast from their building thus the reason they kept the Carpenter studios. Said property manager frowns on fireworks in the building. ;D

They wouldn't need a very big spatula to flip it...once you've listened to sports radio done well, you come to the conclusion that 105.3 is a real hodge-podge of non-starters, non-sequitors, non-interesting-non-sports talk.

I listened (much to my chagrin) to Arnie on Saturday 5/29, and he spent two hours talking about illegal immigrant children getting scholarships (from private-money sources, btw) to go to college in California. The callers were furious that these illegals weren't being arrested and deported.

By the time he had finished throwing this easy red-meat topic at the willing for their all-too-predictable reactions, I had decided three things: (1) Arnie likes being the poor man's Glen Beck, (2) they simply don't care about talking sports, and (3) a lot of his listeners could use some free college.

He tried at least twice to get anybody to call in and talk about the Indy 500..no takers. NBA Conference Finals? Nada. Hockey playoffs? Nope.

If bringing this Russ Martin guy back was going to save this mess, they would have already done it. The handwriting is on the wall in two areas: 105.3 is a ratings disaster, and they have no interest in putting your guy back on the air.

However, you've been told a few things (in confidence). That will trump anything else.

All 105.3 needs is to trade in the wooden deck chairs for blow-up plastic ones. They will make better floatation devices when the iceberg hits The Fan.

No offense to the individuals mentioned, but most stations do not have their "A team" on the air on weekends...
It probably isn't fair to compare a weekend staff to the overall image of any station.

This is true...the property manager didn't want things to go "boom" inside the building. BUT CBS still owns the Carpenter building and they are using it for storage at the moment. (mostly paperwork and using the gated parking lot to park their trailers and old marty units that won't fit in the covered parking garage at the Central Expressway location. This I see every time I drive past it and look over, shaking my head, and telling myself "what a waste") I have no idea what the inside of the Carpenter building looks like, for I haven't been inside the place myself for almost 2 years, or if there is still any of the old equipment in any of the old studios (which I highly doubt, but you really never know.) Seems to me that most of the decisions there as of late haven't been exactly the quality decisions that would make a major impact to bringing the once jewel of the CBS Radio market holdings from (what is it 30th or so?) to the top 10, where it USE to be.

I digress....but my point is this. Yeah, CBS could bring RMS back and slap him back in that old building. It's not IMPOSSIBLE. Improbable, yeah, I'll give you that. Is it going to happen? Probably not.

My question was it POSSIBLE that they are getting ready to flip the station from it's current format back to talk, or anything else for that matter? Let's face it...the DFW listeners don't WANT this station. If they did, then the ratings would be better. No one here on this board really likes the station either. How much longer is CBS going to keep the insanity going and try to have a sports station in this market that NO ONE wants? The programming is horrible, the content is confusing, they don't stick to the format very well (when they DO talk sports) promotions is a joke, and the ratings, well we all know where they are. They make changes to it constantly trying to fix what is so broken it needs to be thrown away. It's like putting a band aid on a gun shot wound. It's just not going to work. I'm not blaming the on air people. They have their marching orders and are told that this is how it's going to be, and either take it, or not work (and CBS will hold them to their contracts)

What sickens me is that the clearest frequency in this market is one of the worst stations ever conceived. (and I realize that this is my opinion. But I am NOT alone in that opinion.) It's time to flip it and move on CBS. Come on, get with the program.
