Money Talk Show Hosts Who Can't Manage Their Own Money

Interesting stories have been popping up in newspapers all over the country about local radio talk show hosts who give financial advice even though they have a history of their own financial problems.

Are there any money advice hosts in this area who ever filed bankruptcy or had financial problems and now they are dishing out financial advice?

Well, I guess you might say that Dave Ramsey falls into that category. He filled bankruptcy, lost everything and rebuilt everything the hard way. I do believe he did repay every penny he owed, years ago. In his case, he had to experience the bad to see what the eventual good would become.

Now, if a talk show host is currently giving out financial advice while screwing up financially at the same time, you have a problem. He should be a politician.

Sounds like a parent. How better to teach your children than by the experiences you've had in life? Many people who make it through the tough times are the ones who can and will help others going through the same thing. However, this doesn't count in marriage and divorce....and I'm qualified to give advice

I've heard and read Dave Ramsey talk about his past financial problems and how he recovered from them using the methods he teaches now. I can't say I've followed his ideas totally, but I do respect him a lot.

There is a good friend of my family (still living so I will not name) who as a mid size bank in the president in the 1960's and 70's would never make a major loan to a business man (woman) who had not been bankrupt at least once. He said these people know what not to do!

Dave Ramsey. Isn't he a local minister?

Dave Ramsey is a Nashville based financial counselor who has a national radio show, and WTN in Nashville is his flagship station. He's not a local misister, but he is a Christian and a lot of his advice is Biblically based. I'm not a big talk show fan, but I do listen to him when I get the chance.

On Dave.. I remember he did a weekly vinette on Way when he was starting the show on WWTN.... Leslie Stahl at '60 Minutes' found his ship one of the most accountable of any group story '60 Minutes' has ever done.. He's a stickler for making sure his crew abides by good self-control on their finances... He screwed up as a young adult, to find out that he could prevent many people from doing the same... He calls it "Stupid Tax" that he paid as a younger financial businessman...
