MORE bad news for Las Vegas Urban fans

As if KVGS's flip to rock wasn't bad enough some months back, you may be in for a bigger loss. Non Com KCEP may have to be sold due to the Clark County's EOB mishandling funds for the enitre agency(KCEP is owned by these people). Unlike Evansville IN's WUEV another Urban music non com Supporter(it airs a Hip Hop show called Party Lights) protests may not be enough to save KCEP. It is quite possible a EMF(K-Love) or similar White bread Christian operator or Left Wing radical group will buy 88.1 and flip it to their "white bread" format.

Please get all the brothers and sisters together and let's get Urban radio fans with Power(you know, business power) to save KCEP.<P ID="signature">______________

America most awful Hip Hop station list , KS107.5 Denver , KLUC Las Vegas , and Wired in Philly .</P>
 
This station survived several other radio stations in the market. V108, Kiss 103.5 (now spanish) and Wild 102 (also spanish) for the most part. It kept reminding people that "We've been here for over 30 years, and we'll not going nowhere." So much for this. The EOB's problems has been ongoing for years. I'm even suprised it has lasted this long. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that if the County bails out the EOB, it will have to sell the station.

This is the only station now attempting to satifsy needs of the African-American community. The only hope is that an existing station or a future station comes into Las Vegas and adopts this station's format. According to its advertising, they reach 100,000 people in the area. A great opportunity for someone to take advantage of. I will miss the station if it goes, but it's a sad story to hear.

I remember reading in one of the trade magazines years ago around the mid 80's that KCEP almost went off the air because of a similiar situation that they went through with mishandling of funds and not raising enough money for the station. Does anyone else remember this?

I do hope KCEP does get it together...the last thing we need is more religion on the radio. <P ID="signature">______________
