More great people in the Seattle Radio Industry get the ax...

Danny Wright & Ken Moultrie gone from Dial Global...
Michael Stein, Bill Rice and Nancy Barrick at Fisher...
When will the powers that be learn that it takes great people to make a great product that people will then listen to and advertise on?

Darn shame about Michael. A great production talent and a really nice guy. Hopefully he's not on the beach for long.

Greetings from the Cleveland, Ohio area. Danny is one of the truly nice guys in the industry. It's a shame he has to get the shaft once again.

I'm not a radio guy, but I've had plenty of email contact with Danny and he drops in on some of the Cleveland discussion boards at times, as he was at several stations in the Cleveland-Akron market, the last one WGAR, where he was given the royal shaft from Clear Channel. It was there he was named Country Music personality of the year.

I have no doubt Danny will land on his feet again.

Michael Stein's cool. Shame on Fisher.......

Michael Stein factoid: he was the drummer in the legendary Bellingham punk band The Accident who recorded a single called "Kill The Bee Gees", a copy of which resides behind the glass at EMP. The guitarist in the band was Doug Cram, son of weatherman Bob and brother of Sara Johnson.

Best of luck to you Michael, I'm sure you won't be on the beach for long. In the meantime, maybe it's time to get the band back together!

You can take Nancy Barrick and Bill Rice off the beach list... they are still employed but in a different role.

But for how long? Fisher can't justify or afford to pay them anchor salaries to make a few phone calls and produce news.

They have a strategy....these two will be news MAKERS. They rob banks, cause accidents, etc. --- and then immediately REPORT it. The reputation of "First for Breaking News" will, in turn, cause CUME and TSL to rise, which in turn reflected in rate, which in turn helps pay the anchor salaries of otherwise displaced anchors.

New radio, folks. Gotta be thinking out of the box now.

Do you realize how many epileptic seizures you just gave to former KIRO TV managers with that statement?

Another Cleveland visitor here, to back you up on this. I actually got to spend an afternoon with Danny at WGAR/99.5, back when they had a separate studio at Crown Center near 77/Rockside. Great guy, and he has one big thing going for him...no matter how big the stage or big the microphone, he makes listeners feel like they belong.

I saw it that afternoon at WGAR...the listeners loved him, and it's no wonder he was top-rated.

He'll land, I know...if there's anything remotely resembling a radio industry that actually hires people, he'll land.

Wasn't he also the drummer in The Young Executives?

Yes, that's correct. He also has his own record label, Chucky Boy, that has recordings from various local bands from that era.

Michael Stein won't be out of radio for long, unless he WANTS to be. What a class act. I hear his pipes on spots on TV and radio all over town. Fisher was foolish to let him go!
