More sports, sports, sports: ESPN 1500 gets local-er...

From 1500ESPN.com

Another one of the Twin Cities' influential media members is joining the 1500 ESPN team.

After 22 years at the Star Tribune, Judd Zulgad is leaving to become host of 1500 ESPN's new show from 9 to noon weekdays and a columnist for 1500ESPN.com.

"The chance to host a three-hour show each weekday, talking about a variety of sports in the market in which I've spent most of my life, is an extremely exciting opportunity and something I'm really looking forward to," Zulgad said.

"This move is made even more exciting by the chance to write columns and stories for the 1500ESPN website. In a very short period of time, Tom Pelissero and others have made it an outstanding site."

A Minnetonka native, Zulgad began at the Star Tribune as a copy aide in 1989. He has spent the past six years covering the Minnesota Vikings and will continue to contribute on that beat for 1500ESPN.com.

Zulgad first joined 1500 ESPN in February as co-host of "Saturday Morning SportsTalk" with longtime Star Tribune columnist Patrick Reusse. He is recognized nationally for his NFL coverage and has more than 16,000 followers on Twitter.

Details of Zulgad's new show -- which replaces a syndicated ESPN Radio program, "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" -- will be revealed in the coming weeks. The show and Zulgad's contributions to 1500ESPN.com will begin later this month.
