Morning Sports Anchor on 100.3 The Fan Jan 2nd

I wonder if they will add more local talent? CC might as well flip 1360 to another format.

From John Kiesewetter

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/tv/2012/12/17/first-word-on-local-fm-sports-talk-staffing/

Rick “The Brick” Ucchino, one of the afternoon sports talk guys on “Real Talk 1160″ WQRT-FM, will be the full-time morning sports anchor on WCFN-FM (100.3) — the former MOJO – when it joins 100+ stations launching the CBS Sports Radio Network on Jan. 2.

Rick the Brick has been heard afternoons with various partners since Andy Furman quickly bolted “Real Talk” a year ago for the new “Fox Sports Daybreak” national show. Rick’s be on with Jeff Piecoro and Dennis “Wildman” Walker. The 2006 Fairfield High School graduate and Ohio Center for Broadcast instructor had been working with Furman at the station since 2009.

You can take it to the bank. Rick will do a phenomenal job at 100.3.

Sports Anchor... Awfully cool. Go get 'em Rick.

Just wanted to say I find that refreshing.

Too many owners/managers/leaders get angry/vindictive when talent moves on, especially in the same market. I just wanted to call that out and say thanks for being generous in that regard.

Maybe there is a Santa Claus.

I am always happy when of our folks go on to bigger and better. Some of my guys have gone to CBS and other big places.

The difference is when they do it in a classy way like Rick. Two weeks notice and a graceful exodus. We've had our share of jerks walk out.... You know who i am talking about.

I experienced one situation where someone was going to be let go and the gm was royally upset that the guy found a new job before the ax fell. Another situation where a guy was touted as the person to emulate. When he went to work for a competitor, he was touted as always being below the belly of a snake. Too much stuff like that. Your response was for me refreshing.

Hearing Tom Gamble will be hosting mornings starting Jan. 2.

Where are The Big Dog Tim Lewis and Paul The Fish Sturgeon? Then 100.3 would have most of the old Bob 1160 lineup minus Lance Mcalister.

Hypocritical move by Gamble, who left radio last year to focus on his teaching career at Northern Kentucky University and to focus on the Crosstown Showdown he is in charge of.

Last I heard he had moved back to Utah.

The launch is tomorrow. No website, no Facebook page. I would think they'd have one or the other by now. Heck "The Fan" in Cleveland had a Facebook at least a month before they went on air in 2011.

You just wonder if this is a placeholder until they can get a sale...

I'm thing the same thing. Radio One is not well financially so they may look to sell it or all of their properties in town.

So, Does 100.3 flip to CBS Sports Radio at Midnight? That's when they are launching nationally with Scott Ferrall.

Yes according to the Baltimore Sun it is launching at 12:01am
