Morning Sports Anchor on 100.3 The Fan Jan 2nd

Supposedly CBS launches at midnight, but 100.3 might wait until Tom Gamble's local show at 6am before they switch formats.

Yes...from the facebook page...
‎"100.3 FM will be broadcasting CBS Sports Radio starting at 12:01am. Tune in to Tom Gamble tomorrow for your morning drive from 6am-9am!"

They just did a promo, stating they're the new home of Miami Redhawks basketball. I would guess they'd get football next fall. I was really hoping they'd get Ohio State, but at least they have something.

Nice to have Miami RedHawks' games on an area FM station. That's especially helpful for clear reception for night games.

Ouch. 1480 was being comped by IMG sports to air Miami of Ohio.....

I think jry was referring to 1450.

Since the COL is different, I'm assuming nothing will change. If I recall correctly, WDJO *did* carry Miami sports before deciding to go with the Buckeyes but it didn't impact WMOH because one station was licensed to Hamilton and one to Cincinnati.

I MAY be wrong on that, though.

No, i meant 1480. We have a long term contract with IMG as my Satellite division distributes NDU Football.

They wanted to pay us to air Miami on WQRT. We discussed 1480 with them and that is where they told me they went. Now, keep in mind that all of this transpired well over a year ago, when IMG bought out ISP. Maybe two full seasons ago.

I took a listen in this morning. I liked how Tom Gamble sounds on air. I also liked that with some of the Bengals discussion (before there were any calls)- he was neutral and not "on the bandwagon" being biased because the station has a local sports program.

Now, correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Tom Gamble part of 96 Rock when they had the "Two Angry Guys" on in the morning back a few years ago? I am thinking it is, but does anyone know?

I actually like the idea of an FM sports station and think that this may replace my AM listening on my drive in to work.

Yes, the Angry Guys were on 96.5, when it was "SuperTalk," and stayed when it flipped to 96ROCK. Richard Skinner got fired in 2008, and Gamble was paired with Fin until, who had been doing afternoon drive. That ended in July 2011 when Gamble left radio.

So what happens with Notre Dame football and NKU basketball in the future?

As i mentioned in previous posts....

NDU, IMG and CBSL have a long standing distribution agreement as we distribute the games, via satellite, to other Christian and Catholic stations.
We air NDU on many of our stations and i do not see this changing. We've also worked on accommodating NKU with their broadcast needs.

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned "a graceful exit". I tried that once, gave 3 weeks notice at a station and was fired immediately and escorted out of the building. Fortunately my new station was thrilled and I was working there the next day, at a higher salary. So I got the last laugh anyway, graceful of not. Radio, it's not just a job, it's an adventure!
