Most awesome spot or jingle ever in ATL Radio

I would have to say the most awesome is NOT from Atlanta (sorry). I was living in California at the time and I think the Fotomat spots were among the best. Quick, funny and very well written. I don't know if Atlanta ever had them but if you did, Dick Orkin's Radio Ranch did some awesome work on those.

From Atlanta, any spot I ever worked on, and, of course, there are far too many to mention here. ;D
 
Your Anchor Banker, he understands; your Anchor Banker, she understands. I believe they also had a southern sounding lady talk about her rich husband "Hamilton" who used Anchor Bank for his money when buying things.
 
Singing: Tillie The All-Time Teller (old First National Bank of Atlanta then renamed First Atlanta).

Another for me is a TV commercial. This is the most boring commercial ever, but it ran in the Atlanta market for years and years and years. Plaza Drugs... until I saw it on YouTube, I did not know it was in color. I always saw it in B&W because my family did not have a color TV. Here is the link if you want to have a look:

For years "Tillie" was Atlanta's generic term for an ATM, like Kleenex, Band-Aid, or Xerox are for their respective things.

I remember the Plaza Drugs commercial well into the 1980s...I think it was still being aired up until the time Treasury Drugs bought them out in the late 80s. When did they quit making Nunnally candy?

The voiceover on this commercial was done by Jack Walsh, a staff announcer at WQXI-TV Atlanta, in the early 70s.[/b][/i][/color]

Everything by Dick Orkin (and his former partner, Bert Berdis) was awesome. Of course, no one on this board except you and me remembers that.

Thanks for the link to the Plaza Drug commercial. Back in the '70's and '80's I lived within range of Atlanta TV and those commercials were a hoot. By those days that stretch of Ponce de Leon was inhabited by some interesting people—nothing like the lady in the white gloves sampling perfume in those commercials!
 
there was a marta ad to the tune of a song i'm embarassed to say i don't know the name of.
it started with a chant.. park-ing, park-ing, parrrrk-ing. park-ing, park-ing, parrrrk-ing. park-ing, park-ing, parrrk-ing. then the singers joined in with "park-ing... pa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ark-ing. (rest) pa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ark-ing. (rest) pa-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ark-ing" (chant continues park-ing park-ing parrrrk-ing, etc) chorus repeats.

yes, it was about parking at marta lots.

i just can't "name that tune."

I worked for Nalley & got talked into doing one of the commercials. It was supposed to kinda be like a hee haw type thing. Don't remember everything, but there was a guy shopping for cars then they'd flip to a cornfield & a bunch of us would pop up & say, "That'd be Nalley."

I thought Jones was saying "Dis is CNN."
The spots I think are the most creative have to be the Georgia Lottery spots. Lottery money at work!

I do too. I still have one of his books.

I wish I had got a copy of the WGST jingles mid 1970's @ 920 when Bobby Harper was doing morning drive just before they went talk. IIRC Sheridan (not sure of spelling) owned them.
