Most OR Least Number of TV Channels in TV Guide

It may be Canadian but I nominate the Maritime Provinces edition. Here's a scan from a primetime grid circa 2000:

Try and match the "bullets" to actual stations. :)

And to make things really challenging, one of the stations hadn't broadcasted on the listed channel for the six years prior to that grid -- CJBR ch.2, an SRC O&O from Rimouski QC, which moved from ch.3 to ch.2 around 1984, but was still listed as ch.3 until it was delisted last year (or so).

Of course, Gatineau's TQS station, CFGS ch.34, is still listed in the East edition of TVG (and the old Eastern Ontario edition) as ch.49, though they moved from that spot around 2001.

Well, obviously "4D" and "7D" are the NBC and ABC stations in Detroit, WDIV & WXYZ.
3-4-5-7-13 are the CBC network stations.
I'm guessing that either 2-4-5-8-9 or 8-11-12-27 are CTV?
And maybe 57 is CITY-TV?

But, not being familiar with Canadian stations all that much, I don't think I could do much better. Are you going to post a scan of the channel list, or is your intent to drive us crazy?

(And yes, I think you win the prize.)<P ID="signature">______________

When I lived there, I do recall seeing WCIU in the listings, back when they carried Spanish programming, and also remember Chicago's 50 being originally on 60. This is was about the time, it had to be early or spring '87 that WPWR moved to its current dial position.

I remember that too, WITI usually preempted about 90 minutes to two hours of the CBS Saturday morning schedule, I recall Small Wonder airing at 9:30am, then a Real Estate informerical at 10, One Day at a Time at 10:30, another informerical or a CBS cartoon (forgot what aired at 11am CT on CBS at the time, I think Galaxy High), then re-joined the network with CBS Storybreak at 11:30. WISC preempted the last hour of CBS Saturday daytime, while WBBM (2) and WIFR (23) carried the entire network schedule. In fact, the Milwaukee stations, especially 4 and 6, preempted the Saturday morning network shows, while 12 carried virtually carried the entire ABC schedule.

2-4-5-8-9 is CTV (the regional ATV network); 8-11-12-27 is Global (CIHF from Halifax, with repeaters throughout the Maritimes).

It is -- while primarily a Toronto station (with Woodstock ON and Ottawa repeaters), it was also carried on some cable systems out-of-market, via satellite.

I was in Columbus a couple of years ago. The TV Guide available at the local Books-A-Million was the Memphis edition. Curiously enough, neither of the ABC stations that served eastern Mississippi were included in this edition: WKDF-45 (I think those are the call letters) from Houston/Tupelo/Columbus, or WCFT-33 from Tuscaloosa/Birmingham.

That's because the Central Mississippi(later Mississippi State) Edition usually focused on the larger Jackson area. But because the other stations' markets happen to cross into more than one region where TV Guide has a edition, thats why you'll see a market like Tupelo/Columbus/West Point showing up in about 2 or 3 TV Guide editions.

BTW you're right. Here's the actual lineup:

Earlier this summer, WKDH ch.45 (their actual calls) was added to the Memphis edition (along with CBS affil KFVS ch.12 from Cape Girardeau, MO). Though of course, it was already pointless, as local listings would be eliminated soon after.
