Movie Music and Radio Rights

I'm not in the Business.... But I have often wondered what kind of hurdles it would take to play music from a music film, that has been released onto DVD, particularly if the live version of that song has not been released on an Album or CD.

For example, I think that the live version of Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" from their movie THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME, is just fantastic. That live version however was not relased on the soundtrack to the movie. What extra hurdles are required to get something like that aired on the radio? ?<P ID="signature">______________
1968-1978 -- THE "GOLDEN AGE" OF ALBUM ROCK MUSIC . . .
In spite of Disco and Top 40 in that period,
it yielded the "Motherload" of Great Album Rock Releases

I would contact either your label rep, or if don't have one, the label itself.

Then contact the label and/or the production company that produced the dvd. They'll be able to tell you what the copyright laws are and whether you can air the song. Simple.

Should you ever decide to "format" a station devoted to movies and film scores, LET'S TALK! I've collected soundtracks and film scores for years...and I'd LOVE to "come on board" for a shift or two!

Not that it matters to anybody....but I've spent the past several days listening to compilations of film scores written by John Williams, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner.

The one consistant thing about ALL OF THEM is that I can continue writing (or responding to computer questions) and not feel like I'm being 'interrupted' by THE MUSIC?

How many other music formats can make that same claim?
