This is an amended, corrected post about one of the most famous film packages to grace local TV from the late 1960's into the '80's, the "MGM/7" package that was first syndicated in 1968 to local TV stations, whose 145-film count dwarfed their previous package, the 90-film "MGM/6" from 1965. This package was also famous for the two biggest TV markets (known in those days as ADI's, now called DMA's), New York and Los Angeles, splitting between two stations - one a network O&O, the other an indie that coincidentally was owned by RKO General. In L.A., the stations were KABC-TV (Channel 7) and KHJ-TV (Channel 9, now KCAL); in New York, WNBC-TV (Channel 4) and WOR-TV (Channel 9, now WWOR). The list of films - 53 first-run and 92 off-network; 93 of the titles being in color; all of which were staples at the respective stations through 1978 - will be grouped by color of which New York station received it (WNBC = maroon [74 titles], WOR = blue [70 titles], neither station = black [1 title]) (information on titles courtesy TV Feature Film Source Book, 1971 edition, Broadcast Information Bureau):
