Movin 100.7 Salt Lake City Moves To The CHR/Pop Format :)

http://www.movin1007.com/

Looks like everyone has been caught off guard with this story. It finally showed up on AllAccess yesterday, though the move to CHR was already appearant a week ago.

As a former Rhythmic AC the station still seems to lean Rhythmic, but I've already heard records by the likes of The Veronicas, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, David Archuletta, and Pink in rotation.

Check them out for yourself via streamaudio:

I wonder what this means for heritage 97.1 ZHT.

interesting move, kind of surprised they kept the movin slogan although they dropped the tagline makes you feel good.

poor movin format, tough times lately

Thats kinda what movin in Saint Louis did,,, they kept the Mocin slogan, but started being more of an 80s 90s and today Adult Top 40.... HMMM... one must wonder how many rhythmic ACs we will have by 2010.. I could see KTU bringing back more Current Dance music, and My 106.1 in Philly might either go Dance, or some form of AC.... The only good Rhythmic AC was KTFM San Antonio, and the philly station isnt bad,,,... KTFM is Hot AC now.

As far as Rhythmic ACs go we already saw the ones in Jax and Dallas bail out on the format recently. Even the flagship Movin station in Seattle isn't performing all that well.
I'm lovin the Movin in San Francisco on 99.7 as it's been moving more towards CHR, and plays a lot of great tracks that were big in the Bay area on Wild and KMEL. I also like 95.7 The Party in Denver for all the Hip Hop they play, but their ratings have slipped to a 2 share.
93.1 The Party in Vegas ain't bad, but I'm waiting for them to go more CHR (though KLUC is now even playing records by All American Rejects and the Veronicas).
Miami got a Rhythmic AC last year with 93.9 MIA where all the good jocks are voicetracked from NYC (including Cubby), but the music mix doesn't sound Miami enough, meaning where are all the Dance anthems that Power 96 used to champion?
Last but not least, when the hell is the Movin station in L.A. gonna finally put itself out of its misery???

Anyways, I like having Movin 100.7 in Utah as a CHR. They've even kept a bit of Dance as I've heard ATC's "Around The World" a couple of hours ago.

The Movin station in LA (and Rick Dees) are toast, although he'll be paid for another 2-3 months; it flipped to an Hispanic-format of some kind a few weeks ago, just as it was starting to show some traction in the ratings.
