Is it true that WMVN will flip formats next year?
I liked that station :-/
Yes, it’s true. WMVN will start playing holiday music very early this year, and then flip to sports on January 1, 2009.
Some observations, if I may. WMVN is no longer a rhythmic AC, but more of an Adult CHR.
Also, it is noted that this will be the second “Movin’” to disappear this year, after KMVX in Portland bit the dust in June. With only 13 stations, and 11 to be remaining, someone predicted “Movin’s” “Jammin’ Oldies” like fall from grace. However, unlike “Jammin’ Oldies,” it wouldn’t matter so much. “Jammin’ Oldies” had many converts to the format, and some success, while “Movin’” has 13 converts (soon to be 11), and almost no success. This person said they thought that, within 6 months to a year, most of the “Movin’” stations will flip format. I hate to say this, because I love, love, love the “Movin’” format, but… I must agree with them. Something just wasn’t right about the format. Maybe it wasn’t done right, or maybe it just wasn’t “Movin’”s time. Whatever it is, I hate to see this format die.
