MTV has canceled Morning Music Videos RIP (1998-2016)

Nope, the time slot was a consistent weapon to use against the erroneous generalization "MTV doesn't play music videos anymore." So, is there another video block that survives, maybe late at night or on weekends, or is this finally curtains for what was once MTV's reason to exist?

So where is MTV today? They seem to be super-focused on three themes: Catfish, Ridiculousness, and Pregnant teens. If you look at their daytime lineup this is the predominant programming. Yes, they will add some Jersey Shore, an occasional movie or two, but that is about it. I guess what works, works. (Actually, I think Catfish is pretty good tv as it offers a provocative look inside social media and how humans react to it).

See if you want to look at MTV today they are basically TLC for young people. All reality shows all the time.

No. They show movies too. And the last few days they've been airing reruns of "Friends" borrowed from sister network Nick-at-Nite

If you want your music videos MTV2 still has music videos in the morning. Along with sitcoms such as Everybody Hates Chris, Malcom & Eddie, Saved by the Bell, My Wife and Kids (shared with sister network VH-1), Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show (Shared with VH-1), etc.

VH-1 does not show videos any more. A few of those sitcoms, reality shows, and movies.

They air Country Music Videos 5AM-10AM Monday-Friday and until Noon on Saturdays and Sundays. Secondly they air Reba's sitcom 1PM-5PM Monday-Friday and they show new episodes of Nashville on Thursday Nights. Plus they have an original show starring Billy Ray Cyrus called Still the King. Plus there is a reality show about he Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

Secondly they have a 24 Country Video Channel called "CMT Music" formerly "CMT Pure Country (and originally VH-1 Country)." CMT Music however is not on DirecTV.
 
Final nail in the coffin for MTV. Might as well rename it to "Reality", therefore replacing the 35+ year history of this network.

they are airing movies on CMT that have no rural/country/southern theme
 
MTV isn't even a music brand anymore. They recently renamed the MTV Hits channel. It is now Nick Music, associated with Nickelodeon.

At the same time, they renamed the Palladia channel MTV Live. So yes, MTV is still a very valuable brand name at Viacom. However, Nickelodeon has become an even bigger one.
 
Not surprise I think if there was money to be made MTV would still air music videos. Music videos are more on the smaller sister stations Nick Music which use to be MTV Hits, MTVU, CMT Music not into country music, MTV Classic which quietly went to all music video format on Jan 1 although started with Decades-thon Dec 29TH, BET Jams & BET Soul. Which I think are only on cable/Telco companies they weren't for SAT companies other than VH1/MTV Classic.

Thanks too I need to see that time slot again foe these shows.
 
Have any evidence to back this up? Music videos have disappeared from the schedule for short periods of time before; doesn't mean this is permanent...
 
Another question that needs to be asked concerns music videos themselves: Are the labels still paying to have videos produced for nearly every hit by every artist, or is the short-form video itself fading away as cable channels stop showing videos, relegate them to dayparts when few people are watching, or stick them on little-viewed subchannels? Is internet exposure enough reason for them to continue producing videos?
