What I dont understand....why does URD get away with this type trash talk all the time with nothing more than a mere slap on the wrist..oh yeh the card again......

Of course, the 'card' is a factor. But, most importantly, WURD is a little AM, who hardly anyone listens to. WYSP, while it has seen better days, is a much bigger player. Another CBS radio "Let's spank the white guy" a la Imus.

Did anyone listen? Was there a jock on the air this morning? Did he/she say anything other than "94 WYSP" and title, artist, time or temperature?

Frank Lario was the jock this morning i didn't listen that much so i don't know what he talked about. WYSP played Don't Fear the Reaper and The Police yesterday maybe heading in the Classic Rock direction ?

Is it just me, or does WYSP sound "neutered?"

All that Zepplin and Who not clueing you in?

oh yeah, "neutered."

Puh-leeese! If someone isn't making toilet jokes and constantly insulting people, the station is "neutered." People forget how Stern made a name for himself with some very smart comedy as well, like the news and song parodies and bits. Stern started the "toilet revolution," but it's about time to flush, wipe, pull up our pants and move on.

Or they can try looking for another show with "smart comedy [on] the news... song parodies and bits."

(The problem is, I don't think Stephanie Miller would work on 'YSP... ;D )

Neutered in terms of the music they play. Seriously, where's the harder stuff? They sound nearly identical to MMR with all the Foo Fighters, Seether, Linkin Park and all the overplayed classic rock dullards. Pre-Free FM, YSP at least had a bit of an edge with songs that made them stand out a litle bit. Now it's just the same old same old. We don't need two of the same thing in this market that already leaves much to be desired. YSP sounds almost as bad as K-Rock in NYC these days (there's a special place in hell for the worst sinners where K-Rock plays over the loudspeakers). Before WRXP hit the air, K-Rock was pulling anemic ratings in the mid 1's despite being the only station to play any newer rock music at the time. That should give you an idea how bad the station is. But that's another rant.

YSP has two choices: Give Philly the aggressive, pissed off heavy rock station it sorely needs, or continue to reside in the cellar. I don't condone his actions at all, but in Kidd Chris CBS let go of the one thing YSP had going for it.

agree about the music. even beyond the super-heavy stuff, there's a lot of great stuff out there not being played, as always. a good music-minded person could design a playlist with gems from '68 to '08 but still sound fresh and edgey. or maybe i'm just a dreamer ... ;D
