MWL finally packs up his gears and moves to Chicago

He was just cutting out his home in Summit Co.; but I guess now he's gonna be the morning jock at "The Loop" 97.9FM in Chi-town

maybe Dan will sober up and wander back from the west coast and get things proper :p

He starts on July 30 from 5:30 to 8:30AM. He'll be going back to his music-oriented roots as opposed to his talk shows in recent years. He's also been on WKQX 87.7 there too.

Here's an ironic connection. The Loop is sister stations to the former Q101 (now i101 after a year as FM News 101.1), which where Alan Cox used to do mornings before coming to WMMS to replace...Maxwell.

Say what you will about Maxwell (and his show was an acquired taste), but his success in PMD at WMMS was what got the ball rolling to nudge them from pure rocker to the rock/talk/sports mancave format they have today.

cleveland radio fans,
who will be on wmms after alan cox leaves?? just wanting to know if any one knows anything. also been listening to wmms more than i have ever done before. it sounds like the wmms that used to know from the 1980's and early 1990's. more music and older stuff. is it me or did this start when 99x came on the air. to me it looks like wmms has drop all the new current alternative rock songs from their station and those songs are on 99x now. i know that this is their sister station. thanks guys. jdc42

Who said Cox is leaving?

Thought Maxwell was really good until they lost focus and made the show more about them and their contract rather than actual entertaining content. The WNCX morning show they did was an absolute trainwreck. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and is successful in Chicago.

Supposedly, this new Chicago show won't be the same talk show he's done here.

I am working to confirm this on the Chicago end. I should know more soon. It's not been announced there, yet...

Alan negotiated for a shorter wmms contract for himself, he announced around the same time he announced his new morning gig for a detroit rock station
