My picks for 12 strangest Atlanta radio stories of the past decade

Rodney did the end of Eagle 106.7 and the firing of the longest running morning jock on Atlanta radio get honorable mention?

Great picks. I think another kind of strange story is when Radio One moved 107.9 into the Atlanta market and announced Hot 97.5 would become Hot 107.9. But when 107.9 signed on, it was an active rock station called "The End." The End lasted about 2 weeks, and then Hot made the move.

Everyone thought it was a stunt. But I heard from top management that Radio One had planned to simulcast Hot on 97.5 and 107.9 for 2 weeks before dropping 97.5. But doing so required notifying the FCC in advance, and the station forgot to do that. Of course, that in itself sounded a little strange.

I remember t-shirts, banners and bumper stickers advertising HOT 97.5/107.5. How about the rebirth of WILD "Atl's Party Station."

#1. The first time I heard "summertime summertime" by Corina play on Hot 97.5 - INCLUDING the spanish version - with all the electro sounds included in it! I was shocked to discover a freestyle sound cross over into urban.

#2. Q100 started Saturday Night Q and ElectroniQ, and both 95.5 The Beat and Q100 played the following (electro-freestyle) songs on Atl airwaves for the FIRST time:

*Jocelyn Enriquez - Do you miss me (freefloor edit)

*La Rissa - I do both Jay & Jane

*Stevie B - Spring love

*Jocelyn Enqriquez - A little bit of ecstacy

Amongst several other things and mixed most of it in with booty bass & a bunch of house. 95.5 The Beat was also where I learned about "I'll know how to love you" by China Dolls! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVAor22TRzk

#3. Oh, and of course the New Wild 105.7/96.7!

Those  3 things go down in my history book of 'Wild Things Happening', ATL.

I still have my Hot 97.5/107.5 cap. After Hot 97.5 came on and got good ratings right out of the gate, Radio One realized it could utilize 107.5 for a separate station.
