Mysterious DFW Radio Jock about to become a DFW Party DJ?

I stopped by a website of an acquaintance that runs a party DJ service in the DFW area, and noticed the following:

Also, we are very excited about the future! We are about to add to our DJ lineup one of Dallas-Ft. Worth's most listened to radio DJ's - from one of Dallas' most listened to radio stations! Stay tuned for more details in the months to come!

Hmmmm, I wonder who it is? Y'all wanna take a guess?

Larry Dixon ? Pugs ? Imus ?

Russ Martin?

Given the resume on the other strand, maybe Lisa Taylor? ;) Or someone almost as awesome, Ron Chapman?

It's that Hermann Bockelmann guy from KAAM... He's a party dawg...

I know one DJ it won't be - ME! Did that for YEARS around here...made really good money and enjoyed it MOST of the time...but that chapter is closed. I do imagine it every once in a while..you know, how much easier it'd be now...with a laptop and jockeypro software, a mic, amp and speakers instead of luggin' a big old set of twin turntables, mixer and all those records that some drunk would invariably bump the turntable and make skip...ahh good times, good times....
..and guess who used to be my "gig-boy"...and help me carry the speakers and set up? so funny to think about now.
Someday I'll have to tell the story of a particular party we did in McKinney for Lynn Haley's hairdresser...we were so naive....

Now you've got us sitting on the edge of our chairs with anticipation! ;D

Do tell!

No guesses...but funny, and sad part is, he or she that's doing it will
probably make more money from club and event work than they will
(or would) as a regular jock (and probably have MUCH more fun!)
without the programming suits breathing down their back...

Dang it!!! I'm drawing a blank on his name...Used to do "in studio" shows here and Chicago on the same day....I think he was mornings on K104 at the time...Don't know if he is still around here or not. :-[

Someone out there will remember his name! ;)

The "gig boy" for me for a long time in our old college days and frat days together was Michael Rey from CW33 television!

My fav story about gigs has to be the time we were hired by Lynn Haley's hairdresser...didn't think anything about it at all...Typical party. We go out in the deep boonies near McKinney on a Saturday night. This place is like NO-where...nothing anywhere in sight except this old two story building with a dancehall type room on top. We lugged the equipment up these rickety stairs and set up...notice they have catered BBQ (always a plus) and a keg (even better!). We partake and begin playing some tunes...they lower the lights, people begin making their way to the dancefloor...after a moment or two Mike and I look at each other and realize boys aren't dancing with girls....and girls aren't dancing with boys....boys are dancing with boys and girls are dancing with girls...(not that there's anything wrong with that)...now remember, we're two guys standing together on the stage DJ-ing...I remember saying to Mike "..you know, they probably think we're..." to which Mike abruptly interrupted with "SHUT UP EB!"....
Now .. fast-forward an hour or so into the gig and all of a sudden "poof "...electricity goes out...record playing wrrrpss to a stop...lights out...PITCH black dark! I think Mike and I both uttered "not good" at the same time! What to do...do you venture out and try to figure out what's going on...in this crowd, ummm probably not...finally the hairdresser walks up and says someone hit a telephone pole down the road and knocked out the power to the area...after an hour or so, a few candles are lit..."I don't wanna know what's going on in this room" was a quote I remember...we eventually packed up and left...I didn't even bother going back for the check....
good times, good times.....

Yikes!!!

I'm sitting here asking myself if that car hitting the pole was on purpose? :-\

No wait, I don't want to know! :-X

Anyway since we're sharing gig stories, I had one back in the early part of this decade. It was your typical party thing, with nothing weird going on. A friend of mine was assisting me, by setting out the CD's and handing them to me as I needed them. All went fine UNTIL my friend leaned a bit too closely on one end of the table he was putting the CD's on.

You can guess the rest...

Ok - Mystery solved - at least in part. My name is Chris Frazee, and I am the owner of Party Tunes, the DJ company of which Robert Bass wrote about. On July 1 we are announcing the addition of a top Dallas personality to our DJ staff.

LOL - I think it's so funny that you'll are talking about this!

It was the DJ in question that read your postings and told me about it. We got quite a kick out of it last night!

Eberhart - yes, it is not you - but WOW - I'd take you on my staff in a heartbeat! Loved your Michael Rey story!!

:D
