Mysterious Hip Hop pirate on 87.9 in the Lowell Area

There have been foreign language pirates around that freq for years; one was 99.9 I think.
Both that and 99.1 and second adjacents to WCRB which broadcasts from nearby Andover
and is licensed to Lowell IIRC. One pirate I think broadcast at 99 watts because he claimed
the FCC only lic. stations 100 watts and over...so he was thus okay.

Yes there is a pirate on 99.1 in the Mathuen area. It broadcasts out of Lawrence. You can see the antenna from the highway. They are located next to the water tower. They used to broadcast on 99.9 before the translator in Haverhill signed on (which is worthless by the way because it sounds awful, is staticy all the time, and only broadcasts with 10 watts so it doesn't make it out of Haverhill.) and aww man I'm heading down to that area Tuesday and I wanted to DX 87.9 before they signed off. Maybe the operator read the bored and signed off. The same thing happened with Party. I emailed the station (there was a website at the time) and he told me he read the board and decided to sign off. Never heard from him again.

btw there used to be a pirate in Haverhill, years back, at 87.9 or so. He would play things like songs and dialogue from the South Park movie.

damn it!!! i wish i knew there was a dance pirate at the time! Not to sound like rapking or anything but I'd help them out with some mix sets.

If I had the cash right now I would offer to buy the transmitter off of this dance pirate, I've been looking to relay my internet station on fm for yeeeaaarrrsss. In the video I saw the power kept going between 200 and 202 watts but maybe they increased the power later in the video.

I do and I don't support pirate radio, at times it can provide us with a service commercial and non commercial radio in the market will not, but they can clog up the dial and get too close to legitimate stations.

I haven't heard The Beat since the day after I started this topic, they didn't always play clean versions of songs which is pretty ballsy so why would they sign off just because they were noticed?

EDIT: I watched more of the video and saw them increase the power to 250 watts.

I am a pirate radio fan with 200w to 250w and a good tuned 70ft to 80ft high antenna they should get 20 to 30 miles car radio. It sounds like they are only getting 5 to 10 miles which makes me think they are only really running 40w to 50w antenna is about 40ft high From the video it looks like they are using a broadcast warehouse transmitter they use to sell a 250w package with everything needed to setup a station

I have been checking out the freedocast video of that party 87.9, does anyone know what that mixing program they are using. I have been trying to google different dj mixing software, I would love to know how or where to get, or if you have to buy it, or if its a free download or is anybody familiar with it .

The software you see the dance pirate using is not free, and it is an automation system.

If you are interested in automation systems like that station has but want a little less of a price tag I reccomend SAM Broadcaster, a solid automation system good for internet stations and pirates that is worth the price tag.

Heard them back on the air September 22nd around 8 or 9 pm in a parking lot in Billerica. That was the first time I had checked the frequency since atleast a month ago so maybe it's old news. They were spotty in Billerica but the closer I got to home (I live in Tyngsboro) the better their signal got so I am guessing this pirate is somewhere in immediate Greater Lowell. Some deejay was talking about Rihanna and how he thinks she's kindof fallen off and that shes far away from her original sound now. I notice they are off right now hmmm kinda hard to catch I hope they're not one of those sporatic pirates.

Ohyeah and the same night I heard a station on 88.1 and a rap song was playing and the mother f-er went on and the n word then the guy cut off the song and said something like "enough of that" then they had a long conversation about their hometown asif their a$s wasn't in hot water for letting some bombs drop on the station. Not sure what station it was.

ive heard parts and complete dirty versions of songs on WMBR, WMFO and a few others. Some college kids are just retards but also labels and radio promo services have sent dirty promos out to stations.
