I'm sorry to hear you lost a decent gig. I'm more sorry to hear what they were paying you. I certainly wasn't seeing that cash at Eagle.

I was with you until that sentence. What you are paid, what you earn and what you're worth are rarely synonymous.
Even if he got $1.5 million a year it shouldn't matter. More power to anyone that negotiates a deal in his or her favor.

Ha!...a moment of levity. Taken too seriously. I did OK at Eagle. The thread was so serious, it needed some blatantly stated "envy." It amazes me how we as talent like to talk about how none of us are making any money. And yet...we still seem to make ends meet. If other jobs pay so much more...why do we do this?

Mo if reporting accurately...let's face it..he may be inflating salary figures in the event a prospective future employer happens to hear about him through someone who might read his stuff here, and report that he's not cheap. My wife asks me why I post here. I told her we're always networking and self-promoting. Don't kid yourself. It's ALL about promoting oneself....anyway, if legit, Mo was making decent cash for anywhere...but especially Columbus. Good for him. It's another example that there is money in radio. If you're worth it...the company will always write the check.

As to bemoaning the money in radio, I have been paid well and I have been paid crap…but I always loved (and love) the business. We can spend our days being jealous of Stern, Limbaugh, Beck, Seacrest, etc., or we can aspire to the level they have reached. I’m still aspiring myself. The future of radio or anything is what we make it.

Jealousy is an amazing motivator. In fact it's what ties us to the animal world. We all want what others have. But, we must always be mindful of the story of the dog with the bone who sees his reflection in the pond...

Well I'm going to miss you Mo. Since NABCO decides to go the all syndicated route now. Having two inflammatory bomb throwers on their Talk FM station will see their ratings fall.


Only the knuckle dragger's would agree with the hate speech that Micheal "Weiner" Savage and Mancow spew out.

I find it funny that Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz regularly beat Savage and Laura in the Columbus market.
Didn't NABCO realize that Savage didn't help with CC owned WYTS?

Well I guess when I'm off at work I have to use my AM Advantage external Antenna to listen to the only Talk station that matters WAIS AM in Nelsonville.

Don't know about any of that, but from your posts here I do know that both you and Mo both seem like good guys!

I assure you i am being accurate but i understand your reticence as i often couldn't believe what i was making, especially when we added more songs and i really wasn't able to give the content i wanted. truth is, that deal was negotiated at a time when radio was good and by a guy, Bob Eatman, that was even better. having said that, he could never negotiate that deal in this climate and depending on where the gig was wouldn't have to. i would have worked in Tampa, where i came from for two thirds less than what i was making here in Columbus. duh, it's Florida, and well, duh, it's Florida.

i found your post, the excruciatingly long one, interesting, intriguing, a fairly accurate in its opinion. i would say when we added songs it was the amount, not the music that i was concerned about. morning shows are different as are morning show personalities and the morning show they had in Blazor and Mo was one that was free form and based on my fifteen years in stand-up and ability to improv. improv needs time by its very nature to get to where it's going. and if i can say so many times it went to very funny places. sadly with what i think was the addition of four songs too many, i can't tell you how much funny was left on the table so that Red Hot Chili Peppers could get their fortieth spin of the day.

the Metallica point was more in line with the fact that 99.7 rightfully so wanted to get away from the image of The Blitz after the flip. and why not? why invest the time and money in change that goes unacknowledged. BUT, when Metallica is the number one band associated with The Blitz and you play more Metallica than any other station in the market...well i think you can see where i am going with this.
