NAC Airchecks: KTWV Los Angeles 1990, re-uploaded JRN Smooth Jazz, etc.

In December 1990, I had a chance to record KTWV, from of all places, a telephone. A company based in Los Angeles had an 800 number that used The Wave for their "on-hold" music service. The radio station where I worked had a telephone equalizer hooked up to our production board, and a kind person who worked for the company put me on hold for about two hours. Hence this recording. If you're interested, you can download these five files (and an earlier aircheck from 1987) from this folder:

Last month I uploaded several JRN Smooth Jazz network airchecks from February 2004, using sendspace. These files were encoded and re-uploaded at 128/44.1 to fit under 4shared's 100 MB limit. The five airchecks from 3, 4, 5, and 6 February 2004 (and all the others that have been previously uploaded) can be found in this folder:

My other files from KCLC have been restored, and can be found here:

KCLC (89.1 MHz) broadcasts from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, and its signal covers much of the St. Louis market. Their current format is Adult Album Alternative, but between 1991 and 2002, KCLC had a New Adult Contemporary format. While the students who worked on-air may not always be the best, the music that was played was diverse. KCLC sounded more like the original idea of the NAC format, as opposed to what smooth jazz became in the late 1990's.

The other NAC files I have posted earlier can be found here:

KCFE--Minneapolis, MN:

KLBU--Santa Fe, NM (Chill):

DWBM/Crossover--Manila, The Philippines

Jazz FM--London (today, they are on DAB and sound very much like they did in the 1990's):

What attracted me to these stations was how different each of these sounded from what is typically heard on smooth jazz formatted radio.

Thanks for sharing those (and the other airchecks you posted earlier), it's always good hearing the classics. I love the NAC sound of KTWV back in the late 80s. They sound a lot different now, but I'm surprised they kept the "94.7 the Wavvveee" jingle after all those years. Good stuff. ;D
