Nashville's Sports Radio...Lite Rock 95.9

Is the translator for 560 on yet? I'm still getting Delilah over here in Lebanon instead of what WNSR is running at night. By the way, what happens to 103.9?

WNSR's translator is not up yet...so you're hearing the Cookeville (Livingston) station...but you knew that.
As for 103.9 in Drakesboro...it's a class A...can't possibily be heard in the 560 coverage area (or the 95.9 translator)...
so I'm guessing nothing happens to it (unless being shut down perhaps).

I live in Rutherford County (Smyrna) and couldn't pick up WNSR on 95.9 FM this moring. I work in West Nashville and the signal on 95.9 is still hit and miss. It will come in good on one block and be completely gone by the time up get to the next block, only to pick it up again a little further done the road. It's just hit and miss right. They debuted their FM signal about a month or so before they had really planned to.

Agreed. Also, I don't think they've boosted the power to the wattage that is listed on the CP as of yet.

That's for sure. Taking a meeting at the new Drury Plaza in Franklin, 95.9 came in clear in the parking lot beforehand. Later in the day, on OHB in the heart of Brentwood, listening to a Corky's spot while in sight of the restaurant, there's a frequency cage match between WNSR and Lite Rock. Not good for the COL.

According to Ted Johnson the FM antenna is failing and must be replaced and in the meantime they are not at the full 250 watts authorized. I cannot receive 95.9 inside my home in Bellevue but in my car just outside it is full quieting.

I suppose it will be a matter of time before the 15 watt blowtorch of Portland will be off-air then.

well...I was wrong on this one: but not 100% wrong as the WNSR 95.9 signal is not close
to their allotted 250 watts. listened this morning driving downtown from Elm Hill Marina area, and
Cookeville's Lite Rock was dominant all the way in...many times completely overpowering WNSR.
Sitting on Lafayette a few blocks from Music City Centre...all Cookeville...no sign of WNSR.
Will be interesting to see how much they battle when WNSR if full power.

Chris, did you happen to read my post just above?

yeah...just following up with my own observation of the WNSR 95.9 signal before it gets to 250 watts...

If you look at the coverage map at radio locator, the Livingston station should NOT be heard here, but it is. How come? The translator approved for 95.9 shows a good signal possible and if they can figure out why the Livingston/Cookeville station has suddenly started to show up here, that will answer a lot of questions. I wonder if any field measurement tests have been done. I bet with a few days it will be corrected. Just went up Monday afternoon

The Livingston signal has been "around" by spotty for many years. There is a "clear" path from their tower to literally OHB and Oak Hill, etc. It's because of the Upper Cumberland elevation and then the tower height to top of that. Pretty crazy signal to carry like that!

That, and there's been a bit of tropospheric propagation over the last few days. Tends to bring in those signals 60-80-100 miles away that don't normally make much of an impact.

I'm hearing mostly WNSR on 95.9 out here in West Nashville. Haven't tried at home in Pleasant View yet.

That tropispheric propagation will get you everytime. Sounds like something my kids picked up at school. Seriously the 95 9 translator seems to be improved this week... any thoughts on other add ons in the market. I can only imagine how the dial will sound when filled up with so many new frequency add ons.

The only time I've heard WNSR on 95.9 I had to be sitting with my Walkman in a certain spot downtown close to the Arcade & Printers Alley, so it has improved I guess, but it gets there as much as Radio Free Nashville gets to downtown on 107.1 with WUHU from Bowling Green all over it.

So my question is this: Is "Nashville's Original Sports Radio" at 250 watts yet on 95.9 or still around 10 watts?
