I understand what they are trying to do, but they are too smart for the room. The average listener is not going to care about this revival music. It doesn't work! I would program 50's rock and roll mixed with some ballads and as you get into the 60's and early 70's, I would calm it down.
I'd have to come up with a sample hour, but it would be something like this
Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly
Never My Love - Association
Witchcraft - Sinatra
Twilight Time - Platters
Do you Know The Way to San Jose - Dionne Warwick
Don't Be Cruel - Elvis
Some Enchanted Evening - Jay/Americans
Mona Lisa - Nat King Cole
Walkin' In The Rain - Ronettes
Have You Heard - Duprees
Cast Your Fate To the Wind - Sounds Orchestral
Blueberry Hill - Fats Domino
Happy Heart - Andy Williams
Til There Was You - Beatles
Top Of The World - Carpenters
Core Artists
Sinatra (Capitol and later)
Nat King Cole (50's & 60's)
Beatles (softer stuff)
Association
Carpenters (but only their most popular stuff)
Buddy Holly
Dion
Fats Domino (most stuff)
Platters
Dionne Warwick
Singer/Songwriters 60's/70's
Duprees
Jay/Americans
Brooklyn Bridge
Basically, rock n roll until the Beatles landed, and then softer after that. Even some 80's stuff could be incorporated (Medley/Warnes, Sade, Gino Vanelli, Gibb/Bee Gees, Bill Withers, stuff you used to hear on CD-101.9 that was only the most popular)
Basically, a little of Classic Lite FM, a little of the old WHLI and a little of an oldies station. Gone would be these new artists and anything related to Big Bands would have to be gone, sorry, it's too far over the hill.
