NBC Announces Sunday Night Football announcer team.

The network’s booth will feature Mike Tirico on play-by-play alongside color commentator Cris Collinsworth. Melissa Stark will handle the sideline reporting responsibilities, making her Sunday Night Football debut.

Sunday Night Football is destination viewing and we are thrilled to have Mike, Cris and Melissa call the action and tell the stories that football fans have come to expect from primetime TV’s #1 show,” NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua said in a statement.

Mellissa Stark replaces Michelle Tafoya, not Kathryn Tappen.

Drew Brees is officially done at NBC Sports after one year.

NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua said in a phone interview with The Associated Press that Brees will not be a part of the network’s NFL and Notre Dame coverage this year. The New York Post reported last month that the former quarterback would not be coming back as a studio or game analyst.

Following that report, Brees took to social media and said he had not decided his future.

Bevacqua said conversations with Brees have centered around him wanting to spend more time with family.

Melissa Stark Joins Sunday Night Football on NBC.

The last time Melissa Stark was regularly on the sidelines, Tom Brady was a one-time Super Bowl champion, and Matthew Stafford was a freshman in high school.

As Stark returns to sideline duty for the first time since 2002 after starting a family, Brady is still in the league and has added six more rings to his Super Bowl collection. Stafford is part of the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

Stark will be reporting on both quarterbacks this week for NBC. The Rams begin defense of their title in Thursday night’s kickoff game against the Buffalo Bills, while Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
