Appearantly NBC is very pleased with Days of our Lives and it's recent success as being the first soap in years to show a consistent ratings gain since last spring. NBC is happy with the show being one of the network's very few successes as of late. This is very ironic since back in 2007 Jeff Zucker announced that NBC Daytime would be dead in 2009.

NBC: Days of our Lives might have more days ahead

Where did you hear/read that? Post a link if possible. IMO NBC will pull the plug on Days after this contract is up.
This only confirms my belief that As The World Turns
is about to join Guiding Light in soap heaven. The last
time I looked at Soap Opera Weekly, about the time GL
aired its last episode, Days was ranked third, behind Y&R
and B&B. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but if NBC
did drop Days, it would make sense for CBS to pick it up,
since it's a cousin of sorts (Sony ownership) to Y&R, and
all three shows (Y&R, B&B, and Days) are linked to Bill Bell.
Of course, there would be money issues, and if ATWT goes,
CBS may decide on another game show.
If nothing else. Days' demographics should be enough to
keep it on NBC.
