It was announced late this afternoon (September 2nd) on the local news of Boston NBC affiliate WHDH-7 that tonight's "NBC Nightly News" would air for a full hour, from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. EDT.
I wonder if the few stations that take "Nightly News" from 7 to 7:30 P.M. EDT will run it from 6:30-7:30 EDT, or 7-8 EDT.
Tonight's "Dateline" (9-10 P.M. EDT, right after the NBC Hurricane Relief Benefit special from 8-9 EDT) will again be devoted to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I would not be surprised if NBC pre-empts the scheduled repeat of the special "Most Outrageous TV Moments" tomorrow night from 8-8:30 P.M. EDT for another special report on Katrina's aftermath. Likewise, I would not be surprised if the pre-race show for Sunday's NASCAR California "500" (currently scheduled for 7-7:30 P.M. EDT) is reduced in length in order to expand Sunday's "Nightly News" from 30 minutes (6:30-7 P.M. EDT) to perhaps 45 minutes (6:30-7:15 P.M. EDT).
