NBC hits Homerun with "Women of SNL"

I don't know how the ratings will come out (what with the World Series), but NBC's "Women of SNL" had me in hilarious tears for most of the show. This was one of the best compilations I have seen in years, highlighted by the extremely funny "Debbie Downer" skit with Lindsey Lohan, Jimmy Fallon and others completely busting up in laughter. The other clips shown were superbly picked and the hour was extremely funny, IMO. Great job, (for once), NBC!

I saw the Debbie Downer when it ran live and was on the floor laughing. I think it was the funny sound effect that kept cracking everyone up. Poor Jimmy Fallon. He kept trying to keep a straight face but couldn't. then Rachel Dratch lost it and it went down hill from there. That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on SNL. The show is rarely funny. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake doing the Barry Gibb Talk show was always a hoot. because its so ridiculous. who would come up with something like that?

Barry: Do you have anything to say, Robin?
Robin: No...naw I don't!

Sadly, I missed the special as I rarely watch anything on NBC these days. Surprised? Let's hope it's a good one when Scarlett Johanson hosts a week from Saturday. I think it's her third go around, but I'm not sure.

I forgot to watch. I'm in Canada. I blame poor sim sub ads on the Canadian station.
(Global tv Canada has the rights to SNL in Canada... ??? Did they even air the show? )

Let's see, an "SNL" special on the night before Election Day, focusing on women...

How much of this show consisted of Tina Fey as Palin? ???

I'm sure a whole lot of it consisted of that. And I share some of your suspicions.

But even though I like Gov. Palin, Tina Fey IS uncanny (and quite funny) in her character!
Can't really blame her for the fact that so many TV viewers can't tell Live from Memorex...

FINALLY watched this on my DVR...

I'd give Women 4 1/2 of 5 stars. Only reason why it's not 5 because I think these SNL specials always are more current (1990-2000's) and don't dip as much into the first 15 years.

I thought the opening Housewives sketch dragged too far. I was tired of it by the time they got to Newman, Dreyfus and Poehler in L.A.

My favorites were Debbie Downer, Martha Stewart's Topless Christmas (will live on forever), and pregnant Poehler dancing in the bar.

Special thumb up to Radner, Curtin and Newman singing the Chevy song and Hooks/Baldwin diner skit.

Note: I must make TV execs mad. I viewed their product almost a month after it aired. There needs to be a correct way to count time-shifted eyeballs.
