NBC News Acting President Steve Capus Can Take The Word "Acting" Out Of His Title

NBC News acting President Steve Capus has been named the division's "permanent" President.

This is the NBC press release announcing Capus' promotion. Capus had been interim head of NBC News since former division President Neal Shapiro departed in September.

Perhaps working in his favor was the fact that he was executive producer of "Nightly News" during the transition from former anchor Tom Brokaw to current anchor Brian Williams, and prior to that was executive producer of Williams' old MSNBC evening newscast. Capus is likely the person Williams wanted to lead NBC News.
