NBC Sports Radio shakes up lineup

New lineup debuts on February 9. Shuffles pretty much all dayparts.

Drops Erik Kuselius from AM Drive, John Stashower from evenings, and Jason Page from overnights.
Moves ProFootballTalk from 12p to 3p to a six-hour slot covering both coasts morning drive.
Newy Scruggs moves from late mornings to the slot formerly occupied by PFT.
Chris Mannix is new, replacing Mark Malone who slides to evenings.
10p-1a remains the same with "Amani and Dan"

NBCSR will go from 24 hours of original programs daily to 18 hours.

Per NBC's press release:

Time (ET) Program
6:00-9:00 a.m. .... ProFootballTalk Live with Mike Florio
9:00 a.m.-Noon ... ProFootballTalk Live with Mike Florio (encore)
Noon-3 p.m. .... Voices of the Game with Newy Scruggs
3 p.m.-7 p.m. .... Chris Mannix Show
7 p.m.-10 p.m. .... Under Center with Mark Malone
10 p.m.-1 a.m. .... Going Deep with Amani Toomer and Dan Schwartzman
1 a.m.-3 a.m. .... Scott Seidenberg Show
3 a.m.-6 a.m. .... Going Deep with Amani Toomer and Dan Schwartzman (encore)

Seriously, NBC somehow made it's programming worse. I didn't think that was possible. Going from 24 hours to 18 hours of live programming is bad. To have an Encore show during the 9am - noon or as they like to call it (West Coast Drive Time) is ridiculous. They got rid of Jason Page who I think was the best thing NBC had going for them. It feels like their just throwing Scott Seidenberg a bone because they got rid of the show he was producing with a 2 hour show from 1am - 3am. Feel kind of bad for John Stashower. Moving over from ESPN to NBC to host his own show then ending back up as an Update Anchor. I feel if they can get a good partner for Mark Malone to work off, he can become a big asset. Newy Scruggs isn't awful but considering his competition, he doesn't stack up. NBC is just a mess. Sadly our local sports station switched from ESPN to NBC about 2 years ago. It's just been awful ever sense. I mostly listen to Fox Sports or ESPN online or on the apps. Looks like that's not changing anytime soon.

Seems pretty football-heavy, considering we just have a few weeks left in the season.

What are they going to talk about between Super Bowl Sunday and the start of training camps in late July? Coaching changes? Over-coverage of the combine in Indianapolis? Several players who get into trouble with the law? A couple weeks of draft talk?

That's six months of not-very-much, especially when during that football down-time, there'll be lots of not-football to talk about: The NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments, Spring Training and the MLB regular season, NASCAR, the Masters, and the NBA & NHL playoffs.

Who's running NBCSR nowadays -- Roger Goodell? If they intend to be married to the NFL, they'll be in big trouble. Most sports fans want more than All NFL All The Time, even though we do love our football.

Are any stations with ratings airing NBC Sports Radio in any daypart? NBCSR claims 437 affiliates, but the station finder on their web site lists only one HD-3 channel in the whole state of Illinois. And that isn't even in Chicago.

What I don't get is if they wanted to have Pro Football Talk on during the West Coast Drive then whey don't they just air it from 9-noon and have an original show from 6-9am? Seems so stupid to have it play 6 hours in the morning. I think the NBC Sports Radio lineup has gotten worse. Seems to me that it's just the first change that may lead to NBC Sports Radio's end
