NBC To Make Entire "Nightly News" Broadcast Available Online

Although individual reports and segments from the broadcast have long been available on the website of sister network MSNBC, "NBC Nightly News" is, according to this NBC press release, now available in it's entirety on MSNBC.com. I would assume that both weeknight and weekend editions will be available onlinbe.

Although one will be able to watch the entire newscast, it will not be available for Internet viewing until 10 P.M. ET, in order to protect the live East Coast broadcast (6:30 P.M. ET) and the feed to the West Coast (which I believe is 6:30 P.M. PT).

I wonder: The next three Sundays (November 6th, 13th, and 20th), NBC's "Nightly News" will not be seen in the Eastern and Central time zones due to NASCAR stock-car races. If NBC does a "Nightly" feed for the West (since the races will end well before the start of prime-time in the Mountain and Pacific time zones) on those three Sundays, I would think it would be available on the 'Net at 10 P.M. ET.

Typically, it's 6 PM PT. Here in Western WA, though, the CBS affiliate KIRO runs their network's newscast at 5:30 PM to they can go local against the ABC and NBC product.

You're both right!
(Johnny, what prize do they win? ;-)

My understanding is the nets' left coast feeds
are at 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30pm PT.

I have often seen--in PHX in the summer--the 5:30
feed flagged as "western edition" or similar.

The LA stations all air weeknight "Nightly" at 6:30 PT. Saturday I believe it usually airs at 5:30 PT and Sunday at 5 or 5:30 PT. If there is breaking news, NBC edits the feed to insert the late breaking story and brands it "Western Edition," with a graphic during the opening.

Given the three hour time difference between the coasts, and the fact that major news can sometimes break in-between the East and West Coast feeds of he broadcast networks' evening newscasts, I wonder if the time might come that these newscasts relocate to Los Angeles and the anchors involved do two editions: one at 3:30 P.M. PT that gets fed live to the East Coast and Midwest; and a second at 6:30 P.M. PT for the West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii.

In Las Vegas, all three networks show their network news at 5:30pm.
