Its called "Sleuth" and it will focus on mysteries, crime dramas, and other fare in this genre.

The network will also use the vaults of its NBC/Universal TV and film library for most of its programming, which means you'll get to see shows such as "Kojak", "Knight Rider" and "The Rockford Files" as well as box office hits like "Scarface" and "Casino". It also hopes to produce original programming by 2008.

However the "Law & Order" franchise will not be part of this channel.

Already signed up to air "Sleuth" is Time Warner, which is expected to have the channel in about 5 million homes.

I can see it now. SLEUTH replaces TRIO.

Just my opinion :)

Cheers for now :)

I think that's a pretty obvious conclusion at this point. Will they actually shift A&E back closer to its original form and away from being Court TV 2 when this channel is created?

As the last person left who watches Trio, I'll be sad to see it go.

Ooooh goodie... I love the old mystery stuff.

Wonder how long it'll take DirecTV to get on board. Soon, hopefully. Although Sleuth is by no means a new programming concept, it sounds
interesting......very. I agree with the above poster--the older mysteries are terrific.

What went with the old "Boston Blackie" and "Racket Squad" television series? Programs such as these would make for great Sleuth viewing. Be good also to see a revival of "77 Sunset Strip," "Hawaiian Eye," "Peter Gunn," and maybe even "Mr. Lucky" thrown in for good measure. The possibilities are almost endless and extremely intriguing.

> If you are lucky your cable shows American Life TV (mine doesn't) and they show the classic WB mysteries "77 Sunset Strip" "Hawaian Eye" "Surfside 6" "Bourbon Street Beat" and "FBI". StarzEncore Mystery channel at one time showed classics like "Mike Hammer" (with Darren McGavin), "Charlie Chan" (Tv series) "Peter Gunn" but now only shows movies over and over. Many new cable channels start off with old classics than go to new shows they make which stink and movies over and over again.

Yes, the possibilities are endless and interesting, but sadly I doubt that NBC/Universal will explore ANY of them. No, they will almost certainly use the channel as a platform from which to "create synergy" with their other corporate offerings. In English, that means "all Law & Order, all the time". And, perhaps some sloppy seconds from NBC - especially shows that aren't quite making it over there. That way, they have a place to burn off the excess episodes that they ordered for low rated shows. Given NBC's recent track record, that will take up a lot of air time right there.

Too bad really, a channel that shows the old detective and mystery shows would be great. But, anyone over the age of 35 seems to be too old for the likes of the programmers out there. So, let's not hold our breath.

Such less desirable possibilities were lurking in the back of my mind while I hoped for the unlikely appearance of these and other shows. Too bad that promising program outlets do indeed turn into dump grounds.

Will they air "Miami Vice", since there's a feature film currently in production. As above comments go, look what's happened to Sci-Fi in the last few years, although they've somewhat redeemed themselves with Battlestar Galactica(version 2.0). They were showing episodes of "Buck Rogers In the 25th Century" a couple of days ago, even though it was the second season episodes.<P ID="signature">______________
