Need to locate new internet Adult Standards station

I like that the stream has proper metadata so I can actually see what it's playing!

I listened to several hours of it, and there are hardly any vocals, so it definitely has a much more traditional sound (from my research, "pure" Beautiful Music is almost exclusively instrumental, although there of course are variations that include more vocals).

The DJ on Serenade Radio, also the man who started it, just said that was a nice tune. There were a lot of nice tunes in 1962. Then the Beatles came along and ruined everything.

He put a photo of himself on Facebook showing that he is a grouch. I hadn't considered a DJ playing this music would be a grouch, but their listeners surely are. No, seriously, they seem to be happy people, but a grouch would like this music.

I don't know if they ruined everything, but they definitely changed everything, and crowded out most of what came before (Elvis Presley being a notable exception , as he seemed to manage to stay in the top ten, even though he got knocked down from number one).

That said, I'm pretty open, and I like pretty much everything from the Beatles to Mantovani and everything in between.

The same DJ, after playing the vintage tune, said there had been a comment that more 30s music should be played. He said he'd have to talk to the boss. Oh, wait, that's me. So I guess there's nothing stopping us.

I'm kind of liking WJEJ lately.

It might not be quite to @vchimpanzee 's, um, standards, but it's not bad by any means, especially if one is interested in pre-Rock 'n Roll traditional pop and swing standards with a few more modern songs mixed in.

Yes, that describes my taste in music quite aptly :)

I'm sure I mentioned it before, but The One sort of music that I just can't like no matter how hard I try is modern Rap/Hip Hop. To me, it just sounds like a bunch of angry men shouting hateful, profanity-laced rants and screeds over excessively produced, irritatingly exact and lifeless beats, often with ear-splitting amounts of bass and annoying 64th note cymbals/high hats.

I have no such problem with classic, "clean" Hip Hop from the 80s and before, however, so the genre itself is fine. It's just the modern take on it I can't figure out.

Speaking of rants, I'll stop it there.

I also forgot to say that WJEJ also does play the occasional early Rock 'n Roll song from time to time, which makes it pretty much the most MOR-like station I've heard (KXBX Lakeport, during their MOYL years, had a very similar sound, but maybe a tad softer and, unsurprisingly for a syndicated/packaged format, a smoother flow from song to song).

There are a few early rap songs I like, but I tried a classic hip hop station once and it didn't happen to play any of the "good" songs.

I'll have to give it a try sometime, but Serenade Radio (when it is doing standards) and WLML seem to be just fine.

Unfortunately, I don't know if that's possible, but at the very least, better transfers from the original 78s would be nice to have, as the ones we have aren't that excellent (they do tend to sound muddy and muffled).
