Neil Boortz dazed and confused on CNN-Is he REALLY losing it-WSB AM 750

Personal experience based on how much interaction? One meeting? Two? And how long ago? If you want to smear someone, at least explain your "personal experience." It'd better be based on more than a passing encounter.

There are obviously quite a few Boortz supporters on this board who always come to his (and WSB's) defense no matter what. However, that doesn't change the fact that Boortz is losing his edge, and I know many people that have already changed the dial, myself included. There are many great talk shows during that time slot, but most folks don't know they exist because A.) Most people don't "scan" the AM dial like they will the FM dial, nor do they have more than 1 perhaps 2 presets on AM. B.) Other stations have put little to no $/effort into letting people know they exist, and C.) WSB & Boortz are just habits. When news- talk starts to migrate to FM over the next decade and the AM band starts to fade (and it will quickly) and as WSB's aging lineup retires, coupled with PPM, etc... WSB's long-time domination will fail.

To "Knows2News"....... I don`t think that Scott Woodside was trying to "smear" Neal Boortz. He was only telling the truth about how Neal treated him. Do you not even read the posts in detail? Scott said that he and his wife were friends with Boortz going back to the early/mid 1970`s when Neal would come to the Z 93 studios and pal around with Scott. Then, when Scott returned to Atlanta in 1988, Boortz treated him like sh*t and wouldn`t even say hello or talk to him. Scott says that this still goes on...... How is this isolated? this jells with the general buzz that I hear others say about Boortz.

This man has still got chops! He can ramble a bit now and then...but overall he keeps me on the hook for a few hours each day.

24 posts 1159 views. At lease on this board the stats (read:ratings) say he still does what he's paid to do - Create buzz on a topic.

GoodTimesGreatOldies - it's NEAL, not NEIL.

I have always held the highest respect for Mr. Boortz and his program. I wish it was carried in the Greenville, SC area, would love to hear him again.

Boortz is carried in the Greenville sc market- WANS AM 1280 carries him live. WANS AM 1280 CAN be picked up in Greenville.

I've first met Neal more than thirty years ago when he was working part time at wrng radio. He was worried that he didn't really have a job and didn't know what to do. He used to hang around the z93 studios back in the mid 70"s when Barry Chase and I were doing mornings. He always wanted to do what we were doing rather than what he was doing. Neal finally decided to go get some real work so he decided to go to the quickie law school here in Atlanta.

We hung out together. My wife Cyndy and I along with Neal and his wife Donna. They were fun and we had some pretty good times.

We were all searching for something and so we decided to go to a mind control school in Chamblee.

Anyway my point is that Neal was always warm and friendly in his earlier years. In 1978 I left Atlanta to do morning radio in DC and ten years later I came back.

I would see him at events, that we would be at together and he wouldn't even say hi. Well, maybe hi, but that's it. He would totally ignore me and my wife.

Later on I got a part time job reading liner cards at B98 and would see him in the halls once in awhile. Do you think he would even go out of his way to say hi?

Some people forget where they came from and I believe Neal did long ago.

I'm sorry to hear that he's not doing well as far as his on air quality. I wouldn't even wish that on him. You would think his wife would tell him that it's time to step down and renew his friendships with humanity. But I'm sure Cox will try and milk the guy until he dies.

That's my story on Neal.

i have a high disdain for people with no talent being paid a fortune they don't deserve (just look at some of the morning shows at wpch over the years).

But i have even more disdain for talented people that end up destroying themselves and a stations ratings by their own stupid decisions, which what you and your partner in DC decided to do.

Perhaps Neal just wanted to stay away from those people who made crappy decisions which essentially ended their high profile careers?

That's certainly what I would have done.

An Elliott and Woodside reunion @ WMAL? Coke dealers alll over the Nation's Capital could only hope.

You think maybe part of Neal's anger could come from him investing so much time and energy into something that nobody seems to care about? (Somewhere a long time ago, I heard about this thing called "Fair Tax".)

Hey, we all make mistakes.

I'm not sure you're right that nobody cares about the fair tax. It's gotten the attention of Congress and a lot of people in the past few years. Neal and Herman Cain still talk about it. A certain senatorial candidate from Georgia used it albeit deceptively in his campaign commercials.

I think that Neil has burned WAY too many bridges in Metro Atlanta media. I bet that most people at WSB/COX don`t even speak to him any more. It is amazing all of the hate that he throws out. It is sad to see how this amn has fallen. Now, he appears on TV all hunched over, rambling on and on and not looking at the camera or the interviewer. Also, has anybody noticed that Neil`s studdering has gotten worse?

Studdering? That axe you're grinding needs a spell-check...

I'm sitll laughing about Kabrich's Elliot / Woodside reunion reply...
